496 Ho Who`s Good With Them
#1

A buddy of mine had a Whipple Charger installed on his 2002 496HO. It lasted about 4 weeks and blew. don`t know what at this time.
He was going to send it to Dereby Marine in Texas.
Who is good with these 496 8.1 motors???
I thought I read here that Tyler Crocket is real good with them.
Are forged pistons available???

Tyler Crocket has been working with GMC and the 496's from the beginning. If they would blow one he would tear it down and report back his findings. He knows this engine through and through.

Both Tyler Crockett and Arizona Speed and Marine have worked with the 496.
Both have or know where to get forged pistons for it. They can not program the ECU as they do not have the rights to the 555. However, Dustin should handle that end anyway.
If you think the problem is the lack of forged pistons you may want to contact Dustin. If the fuel curve is correct you don't need forged pistons.
