It looks like Reliable Carriers Inc.will have the privilege of doing the delivery of the Gt in the United States.Really a neat piece we also do all the shipments of the Dodge viper.

My local dealer quoted me a price of over 400,000 I told
him I could buy a real GT-40 for less. The dealers are trying to get rich on this one, with only 1 car per dealership

nice car.... slightly larger than the original GT-40... Anyone remember the bubble they had to put in the door to accommodate the helmet on Dan Gurney because he was so much bigger than the other drivers?

I thought it was odd that the car isnt called the GT-40. Turns out that Ford let the rights to the name lapse, and now someone that builds a GT 40 kit car actually owns the name. They offered to sell it back to ford, but they wanted huge $$$$. Ford passed.
The original got its name because the car's roofline was 40" high. So i guess GT-44.3 doesnt have the same ring to it.....Sweet car though.

If my memory serves me correctly... Ford didn't build the chassis.... they were built in England by a constructor. I think the guy that owned the company is still around... I know back in the 80's you could still buy a GT-40 chassis. Unfortunately they were right hooks. Carrol Shelby was brought in later to help develop the car for racing. The early ones weren't very competitive.

Saw it at the Detroit auto show - they had a billet license plate on the back that read:

"Built in Detroit. That's right, Detroit."

Same thing on the 2005 'Stang, only it read:

"Built in Detroit, as God intended."

Definitely some attitude at the Ford display...
