Default OT: Stopping pop-ups

Does anyone know of a way to stop annoying pop-up advertisements? Everytime I launch IE I get these ads for AIG Insurance, Screen savers, free software, etc. I've tried everything I know, I need and expert.

Try panicware
I use it at work and it stops everything, even the popups you want. But it has a quick override for that.
I like it.

I use "Pop This!"
It's been working flawlessly for me.

My "alpha geek" installed the Google toolbar on my comp here at the office. It has a popup blocker that I don't even notice. Most are an annoyance to me. This one works great.

Try getting it from www.google.com

Panicware Pop-up stopper rules.

Also run Ad-Aware http://lavasoft.element5.com/software/adaware/

Cleans your hard drive of those hidden programs that generate pop-ups. Sort of like penicillin!

Thanks all, so far so good. Sometimes sites like this are "priceless".

Exclamation Just fixed a Mess (someones file is corrupt(nuke/spy ware)

Man, same thing I tried Adaware, Spystopper, this stuff would not go away 8ad, Iadhide,
Etc., etc. ....... It took a couple of clean outs but it is gone( good riddance ) I think it came from a picture (jpg.) ... Oh Well live and earn. Just be sure you get a remover with a good rap or you may expose yourself to a short term fix with built in ' things' that will bother ya' later...... Good luck.

I downloaded "I hate popups" the other day. It's working well. For ten bucks, I thought it was worth it. One thing though, it kills the oso popup that tells you that you have an instant message.
