Whatever it finially looks like, they will be hard to get at list/sticker the first year, just like the 97's were when the change to C-5 hppened. I am waiting for 2006 when the 500HP ZO6 comes out, its the only car I will give up my 2003 ZO6 for. PS my 2003 Z06 is my 23rd corvette, and yes they do keep getting better. I just drove a Cadillac SLR, and even though its on a corvette frame with a lot of vette's parts it has some nice new features, but at $75K it is not a vette nnor as fast yet. A turbo XLR is due out next year at 500HP, but guess what. A CHEVROLET CORVETTE is AMERICA's ONLY TRUE SPORTS CAR, Always was, always will be. You can not beat it for the price against anything built in the world. Throw another $50K and give it to John Lingenfelter and you will have the fastest car on the planet for $100,000.
Yes I am a vette lover. The only thing better is 100mph on the water.

When are they gonna step it up? The Europeans are stepping all over the American performance market!!! You can get a Benz off the showroom floor with 600+ horsepower and 4 year warranty WITH service included.

You'll pay too much...........but if it were made in quantity like the Vette is.....is sure would come down in price! All I'm saying is that American car manufacturers are waaaaaaay behind still. Even the Jap cars out run them still.

Nort does have a good point. Unless the Corvette goes all out it will never be recognized as a world-class sports car. It is not now and it never has been. 350 to 400 horsepower is not going to get it done anymore, and even in it's current state it is getting killed by the imports. Granted the Corvette has outlasted everything from Japan but if they give it only 400-HP then it will not only get passed by on the road but also in the market. Even 500-HP seems short sighted these days. The C6 is going to be a really awesome car from what I have read. I hope they don't screw it up with the same tired old power plant on Viagra.

Until GM decides to make the Corvette in a mid engine configuration, it will never be "world class".

Otherwise, it is a relatively good value.

robyw1 - you have to take the hp in context with the car. It doesn't weigh as much as some of the other cars out there and it's aerodynamics are also a factor as the speeds increase. I do agree though, they need to up the hp to compete, however, 450-500 hp in a car like that is enough!

vtec - I disagree, the C5 has 51%/49% front/rear weight distribution, how are you going to improve that number? Leave mid engine designs to the other car manufacturers, the Corvette smokes most of them anyway (Viper too). Mid engine is over rated.
