Just once,
Bacardi is affiliated with AB. The picture was taken at TNT shortly after the 36' Skater was repainted with Bacardi colors for the Bacardi sponsorship. Previously, is was sponsored by Budweiser. Hence the white trailer with Budweiser stickers.

Which is why I want a Viking funeral........... my closest friends will come. I can see it now....... the boat and my body burning on the horizon....while two old Rottweilers look on....... and as they turn to leave...one raises his leg and pees on a Shadow brochure.

T2x if I'm wrong in anything I put in that third paragraph, please correct me, and add anything else you know.

Speed record boats are an interesting topic......with a lot of goofy ideas having gone awry over the years. Including Art Arfons attempt that featured sponsons with wheels protruding slighly out from the bottoms..... His idea was to "roll" over the water at speed.
Ken Warby is an example of sheer luck triumphing over massive odds...... I pray he doesn't try again.

Full Tunnel vs Pod is not the Question
I have driven most cats and owned Cats. Some of my best boating buddies are Cat owners.
The bottom line is, how well does the boat ride, and is it fun to drive?
TEST the boat, as you would buy it. Do not test a similar boat, with for example different drives, or different engine placement. TEST what you will own.
Do you need to run a big tab to adjust the ride? Do you need to spend a lot of time on the trim and tab buttons? Do you need to blast through a porpoise (oscillation zone)? If yes then the boat is going to harder to drive, and possibly less enjoyable. As speed increases, you have less and less time to worry about a boat that oscillates up and down, find one that rides high and level and smooth and then hammer it!
Enjoy!
Steve
PS Let me know what you decide as the best Cat of your specific length.
