FWIW- I'm a slow typer too- and the phone callss interupting don't help.
I wanted to share some positive parallel info. Boating is my second addiction- Rockcrawling is my first- extreme Jeep type thing.
The pirate board (pirate4x4.com) in many ways parallels this forum. Just two months ago, a competitor only forum was introduced and has been quite helpful. The owner of the pirate board is an avid racer and he must grant access to team members for this forum.
here, many issues are hashed out openly and candidly without regard for politics, and/or concern of promoter's or sanctioning bodies "eavesdropping". As a side benefit, we are not cluttered with well intended but distracting opinions and rants from fans who sometimes serve to add fuel to any given fire.
We do have an "open" competion forum where events and issues are also discussed so the fans have their place to mingle with the racers to. So far I've seen only good results, the racers have an agreement not to share info from the racers forum.
As a performance boater (I'm dumb enough to own a 28 Pantera, 25 Daytona and an inboard ski boat right now- selling the last two) I am in no way offended by the racers wanting a vehicle for private discussions on racing topics.
