I'm thinking of going. I will probably stay at the Hilton. I don't care how far it is from the show. Hilton gives me an AWESOME DEAL.

I will be there with my better half. Looking into the Edison. Does anyone have a meeting place? And more importantly, who is going to have a boat....... I got the gas card...................

I plan on being there like always. Staying at the RIU with several other HRPA members.

The Clevelander (across the street from the Edison) is a great place to start (and usually finish) the evenings. It's an outdoor bar that has a band every night, no cover and great scenery My wife and I are staying in that same block as well.

Lots of hotel options on Expedia.com right now.

Anyone know anything good/bad about the Avalon Majestic Hotel? It's right on Ocean Drive/7th street, and I can get 4 nights with a rental car for $818...

Never heard of Avalon Majestic.

Expida just told me to check back later, they are busy?

Anyone have the number to the Riu so I can call them direct and see if they have rooms left? I can't find the number on line and don't usually have a problem finding them...

Question Hotel dilemna....

I've got ariline tickets arriving at midnight Weds. night (11th) and departing mid-day Sunday (15th). The hotel reservation is turning into a bit of a saga. Expedia lists 13 pages of hotels in Miami, but when I arrange them by price, it's hard to find anything decent near the beach. Since the Mrs. isn't planning on spending much time at the show itself, we need someplace on the water. Some of the Art Deco hotels on Ocean come in at reasonable rates, but when I check them out on TripAvisor.com, some of the reviews are a little scary. ("Horrible", "Noisy", "Dirty", etc...) Right now, it looks like my best bet is the Radisson Deauville. Oceanfront rooms with a balcony are $214/night....

The Ramada Miami Beach at $89, Seville Beach at $125, Leslie at $125, and Castilo Del Mar at $150, looked OK until I read some reviews about them -

Had a bad experience at the RIU in 2002, so I'm not too interested in going back there....

The Seville is a DUMP. The Riu is a palace compared to that place. The Sovereign is nice place.

The wife said we are going to Florida to visit her parents the week of February 13th to the 20th. With feigned disdain, I accepted. See y'all at the show and OSO party!
