More "ups" than downs. Grew up in Florida, went north for 18 years, came back. Don't intend on ever shoveling snow again, I'd rather be changing my plugs in my boat. Instead of winterizing, I'm enjoying. My two cents anyway.

And, don't forget..........never use your turn signals once you move here!:D :D :D

Have you spent any time in Floriduh? If you haven't, you should come down and spend a few days, look around the area where you are going to be living and see if it fits.
Don't worry about the humidity and summer heat stuff, (you'll learn to love it) in one year or less, like everyone else said.
We too were wearing long sleeved sweatshirts and long pants in the evening in KW this last week, when the temperatures dropped into the high 60's low 70's during the nights!  :D

I agree Troutly. You also have to have a high tolerance for bugs - lots of em' and everywhere. There are those wonderful Palmetto bugs which are basically huge, flying cockroaches. I lived in Homestead (south of Miami) for 6 years. The winters weren't bad but the summers were hot and the mosquitoes were thick. The crime rate very high too. I'd never move back there again!

I LOVE FLORIDA! If it weren't for work and my Babe I would be out there in a heart beat!

I LOVE FLORIDA!:D

As far as bugs go, we NEVER see those palmetto monsters inside.
I have seen them occasionally, at night, but only outside by the docks.
Since we are less than a mile from the ocean, we are on deep waterfront, we always have a cooling breeze, we don't even have screened pools in this area, and we have no mosquitos either!
It all depends on where you live in Florida.
:D

I have a cousin that lives in Florida and I asked him one time about the bugs (Roaches)
He responded that if they are in your house, they are called Palmetto bugs. If they are in your neighbors house, They are f*cking cockroaches!!:D :D :D

By the way Flordia is not the correct spelling of Florida.:) :)

I am moving back to the Palm Beach area as we type.

I have lived in Atlanta for 10yrs.(except a 1yr. Vegas vacation) and could not stop coming home to visit.
Now that my boats are costing as much as some houses I decided I wanted to use it all year if I had to pay for it all year.

I liked Atlanta, loved Vegas, but my home and my heart have always been in Florida. I just brought down the first load of crap from Atlanta this weekend and today I heard myself call Palm Beach home for the first time in memory.

Give it a look first, different coasts for different folks.

If you start to think about the Ft. laud. area contact "hebertnecessity" he sell real estate.(real name is Hugh)

We have and exterminator that comes around once a month, and sprays the place inside and out. That's what keeps the bugs outside and invisible to us.
The only things I see crawling around outside are the little lizzards and we love those little guys, because they eat those big guys!:frog:
