Internet TAX situation?

I am continually amazed at the amount of information available from people on OSO that has nothing to do with boating.
Just curious, and a little concerned; I believe at the end of October the temporary ban on taxing the internet was allowed to expire. This being the case I am sure our elected officials are now salivating at the thought of another whole potential pile of cash they can tax out of us.
Is anyone up to speed on this? All I am hearing is rumors. How can we help keep the internet a TAX FREE ZONE?
The government already confiscates too much of my money. I don't want them getting more.

I don't know for sure, but i have always heard that most politicians were against taxing the Internet. I know when the idea was first proposed the politicians in favor of it took some serious heat for it. So as far as i know it is not going to happen, but we are talking about politicians so that could very easily change.
