Think you know your boat designers? Who designed the 49' (50') Cary, 53' Magnum, 32', 36', 40' Cigarette, 27' Magnum, 18' Donzi, 20' Donzi, all the Squadrons, and several others? There is a vintage prize for the first POSTED correct answer.

I know this is a trick question...but I can't recall the name... There was a trio of guys working on the original project I think and they were Jim Wynne, Don Aronow and one other guy...I think it was the other guy who designed these boats...am I on the right track? |

According to the Miami Herald (Feb 1983), Don designed the 32 Cigarette...
"Aronow soon began designing boats himself, and in 1969 he came up with a 32-footer that he called The Cigarette, after a Prohibition era rumrunner. It was a brute of a boat and was virtually uncontrollable (a year later he sold it to two Australian friends, brothers Val and Paul Carr, who were killed when they turned it over at 70 m.p.h.)." |

Hey Brownie speaking of OLD designers what happened to Peter Bucket sorry Birket ? have you heard anything from him lately? Mike

Mike, Pizza Bucket left Turkey 2 years ago to go back to England and re-engineer the Destriero of Aga Khan for an engine and jet upgrade (3 x 34,000 hp) to set a record around the world. He finished that, and is freelancing around Europe.
Best regards for the holidays. Brownie |
