C Spray is right, this does promote better "scavenging" is the correct terminology. They also need to be equal length.
HOWEVER, this is really for higher rpm lower displacement motors.The extra power you would see on a 540 CI supercharged motor would not be worth the extra cost and amount of space this takes up.
