clearcut3 12-02-2003 09:27 AM

If you live in a city ahead of Compton California...that's kinda scary

THEJOKER 12-02-2003 09:28 AM

Way to go Atlanta! I rarely go downtown due to the fact some crackhead will kill you for $ 5.00. BH

Clay Washington 12-02-2003 10:03 AM

Clay Washington 12-02-2003 10:12 AM

WTG, Austin! :D

Shah Mat 12-02-2003 10:21 AM

I live between DC and Richmond...... I think that's a good thing.... How come NY or LA is not on the list?

bschoe 12-02-2003 10:32 AM

Puerto Rico didn't make the list but this island could easily top it.

This October's count pushed the murder numbers to already exceed last years murder rate of 25 per 100,000 compared to New York City of 12 per 100,000 compared to 7 per 100,000 nation wide, United States.

And I sometimes still have reservations about leaving.

DC isn't that bad, only a small area on the southeast side. Many people get lost and end up gettin' jacked.:D :D :D

Gary Anderson 12-02-2003 10:40 AM

Damn, if only we pulled together here in St Louis and killed the required number of people, we could have been number 1!
And sure, we're one of the highest in infant mortality, lead poisoning, and the elementary schools are not acredited. And most of the major industries are moving away including the old TWA hub.
So what's our cities solution? Build a new ballpark for the Cardinals.
Gary

open87 12-02-2003 11:03 AM

new orleans only #13:confused: we have murders every day in fact there were a few captains of the police dept. that are on suspension for altering crime stats to make it look as the crime rates are going down  i do not go to new orleans unless i really have to. i know people think the french quarter is a cool place, and so is a few upscale areas. other than that, N O is a dump. poverty rate is sky high, unemployment, trash everywhere.

See detroit has you beat there too, we built the lions and the tigers new stadiums because their so good:) Detroit did try to help the local econemy out, they put up three casino's because you know if anything is going to turn a city around it's a casino.

Casinos! Why, we got those too. A great idea 10 years ago to bring in tourism. Unfortunately EVERYBODY has casinos now! So no tourism dollers there. They just move money from the local population to the casino owners and state (taxes). So the state can build more ballparks!.

mikev 12-02-2003 12:08 PM

live north of atlanta makes me think twice about going downtown.

Gary Anderson 12-02-2003 12:10 PM

And not to change the topic too much. Can anyone list how many of those cities/states have strict gun control laws ( ie. no CCW law).
Hmmmmm.
Gary

I know I meant that to be sarcastic! Believe me I live about an hour south of Detroit and if i didn't have to go there for work once in a while i never would. As far as the casino's go there has been one for years across the river in windsor and the city is clean and safe. Detroit is planning on developing the river front, moving some of the factories away and putting in parks and restaurants. If they do and keep it clean i can see it being a boost for the city, i would go boating up there if there were somewhere to go as it is now i go south to ohio.

26scarab 12-02-2003 01:06 PM

GA,
Yeah all the criminals have CCW's.

hitman 12-02-2003 01:49 PM

dreamboater 12-02-2003 02:09 PM

After looking at some of the cities, something ain't right...

It say that St. Louis and Atlanta each have a population of less than 500,000. That can't be right!!! :(

CAP071 12-02-2003 07:23 PM

New Orleans

The reason New Orleans isn't NUMBER 1 is that some crimes have been 'reclassified'. For example, if one drug dealer shoots another drug dealer it is classified 'death by natural causes'.

I went to N.O. last Friday to Christmas in the park with my wife and mother-in-law. They get kinda weird when I grab the M-14....so I had to settle on the .45 with about 100 rounds of homebrew loads with the Speer 'flying ashtray' bullets. They flatten out like quarters, and make the coroners job easy. Or so I've been told.:eureka:

tomtbone1993 12-04-2003 08:04 AM

Texas, isn't on the list cause we all carry GUNS!!!!!!
