This was in 2000 Islamorada. I think this was a 32 Sutphen w/ small blocks. We raced deck to deck for 8 laps. What a blast that was. We won by maybe 5 seconds - BH

There was a fellow up by Old Saybrook that has a 38 and a 39. I believe the 38 had TRS and the 39 had 6's with Zul 950's or so. Chris at Offshore Performance was trying to sell them. His number was 860-388-6000.

sutphin is one of the few that still have the classic look (which i prefer:cool: ) . great lookin boats and i have heard many good things about them.
i was going through this thread and was curious about the steering on this boat. anybody know why both rams are mounted to the same side? just wondering. |
Jokers Wild - thats the boat, if I wasn't so deep into the Sonic I'd be running that thing next season!

Dave those look like Arnson surface drives
|
definetly Arnesons (or Kammas). it just looks like the steering is mounted different for some reason  . one looks like it is in the middle of the tab. looks like a nice ride from the pics posted.

anybody have a picture of a boat named the red apple? It was running around New Hampshire for several years and had an apple on the sides with a worm poking out of it. I used to love listening to that boat from age 6 till about 18 when the guy who owned it got divorced and had to sell it.
|
Sutphen, nice man!!
|
Haha, looks like an awsome nice area.
|
Nice, I like that hot water one, does that have a volva penta motor in it?? How fast does she run?

Sutphen30, I know right where that place is...right across the river @ Rockport. I live up here. That place is a really neat set-up. Is there a hot tub in the little house as you go down towards the docks? There's usually a sweet looking Sonic tied there. It's gorgeous up here in season!

Could someone post Sutphen's web address. TIA

Yep...my slip is ...oh..a few hundred yards from that last photo. ;) We have a great performance boat bunch here locally and a club forum here on OSO. Check in on the forum or PM when you're gonna be up this way...some of us will meet up with you show you around some? We know the River real well (there's another 2000 islands just underwater!). I have only studied one Sutphen up close...a late model 39' that was at my marina on brokerage for a short time. Canadian boat, N/A 750's and six drives... I believe it belonged to the fella with the "Real McCoy" Sutphen, well known on the northern poker run cicuit. Understood at that time he had 3 ? Sutphens. Admittedly the boat was short on luxury...all business...but looked and "pounded out" tough as nails. ;) Don't know if he ever sold it? The price seemed fair, I remember we were commenting on the value of the drivetrains being a substantial % of the price being asked. :)

TO..diggin' the new jitney huh? Is that a skid of burgers on their way out to the masses? :D

Cool photo Fred!! I have a bunch of pictures of my old Sutphen that I would like to post...but they were taken before I had a digital camera. I'll scan them and post away!! It was a 1972 18 footer with a 340 Mopar and a Volvo drive.:)

I got to meet Richie, Sr. at the Worlds in 99 or 00?? They had the pit right next to us. They had that awsome F2 boat that was the kilo holder at the time!! I was in our pit and this guy walks up and says "Who's the Undertaker?" (We had a sticker on the boat) He went on to introduce himself and his wife, I guess his family use to be in the Funeral Business in the Northeast, I seem to remember it started with his grandfather and at the time they were making their own casket's and being good at working with wood they also started to make boat's!! And that is how it all got started!! (Kinda cool if you ask me!!) I guess some of his family is still in the business. I'll have to look for a picture of me and him!!! Him and his wife were GREAT people!!!! Super nice!!!!

There's a boat wake there that you don't see. It was not just a bad trim job. In case anyone was wondering how I could get that much air from those ripples. :D NK
|
Oh yeah I forgot. We were going 90 there. :p NK

Too Old,
Feel free to add this to your collection. I believe this boat was from N.J. I really wanted to buy this boat but the broker that was listing it was reluctant to put me in contact with the owner for obvious reasons. If anyone knows where this boat is please chime in. |
