Does Sutphen still build new boats?

I have only seen used ones around. Will they still build new boats? Anyone have one?

Audiofn 12-04-2003 09:10 AM

Yes as far as I know. I have their web site on my other computer. I will try and find the link and post it for you. It was a very strange address as I recall.

I used to have one. The smaller ones are built by the son (Richie Jr.) up north and the big boys are built in Cape Coral, FLA. I have the numbers if you want them. I could never understand why they don't advertise, but I guess if you build a GREAT product there is nothing better than word of mouth!!

I've always LOVED the lines on those boats. Wish I had the coin to glue Too Old's together.

OBNOXUS21 12-04-2003 09:30 AM

Looks great!!!!!!

Keep 'em coming!!!!!!!!!

BLee 12-04-2003 10:44 AM

Indy 12-04-2003 12:43 PM

What sizes does he offer besides the 32 & 40(39)?

Jolley 12-04-2003 12:46 PM

Looks a little like a Magnum. Nice boat !

PatriYacht 12-04-2003 12:58 PM

Too Old, I looked at your boat before I bought the Black Thunder. If it had had an enclosed head I might've bought it . That was before the engines were taken out. Sometimes I wonder if I bought the right boat. Going over a hundred in that boat must be a riot!:D :D

......chance

I like the flat deck without hatches.

PatriYacht 12-04-2003 01:48 PM

You're right, the wife is happier with the Black Thunder and I'm thrilled with it too. However, with it's present hardware it will never do much over 80. Just have to keep looking......so many boats, so little time.....:D  :D

I believe a 26 and a 30 also. I ran into a guy at a truckstop in Ocala that was pulling one up north. It was I think, a 26 with a big single in it. He said he was having a new one made, and he had already sold the one he was towing.

tsunami 12-05-2003 11:04 AM

Don't forget the 34 footer. A well balanced, good handling boat. We are going into our 10th year racing Tsunami and it is holding up really well. Our pleasure 34 is listed in the classifieds, is a high deck and came with fridge and sink. We could have put a head in it but opted for a porta potti. The cabin is spartan, but functional.and low maintenance.

BODYSHOT1 12-05-2003 11:18 AM

sut30,

any recent pics of the new one...with rigging??

McGary911 12-05-2003 01:08 PM

I looked at a Sutphen or 2 b4 buying my donzi. Very nice boats. In the summer, on the train to work, i pass a 24' on a floating dock on the Navesink river in red bank NJ. Very nice looking. Has a Merc Blackhawk drive. Doesn't look like they use it much tho.

Yep, I think that was his name. We were doing a job there at the truckstop and I saw he had a Poker Run shirt or race shirt on or something, so I asked him about it. He told me he had the boat out back, so I went out to take a look at it. Real nice guy. He said his new boat was being built at the time (around March?).

I don't know what was with that truck stop, it is a long way from any sizeable water, but later that day the Lucas Oil Super V pulled in for fuel too. Saw a few other performance boats there that week too.

where are they made at ?

Smarty 12-06-2003 05:49 PM

I have always been a fan of 30'/31' and 33'/34' Sutphen. The boats were always competitive in sloppy water in the 80-95mph range, and in sloopy water that fast, that is strong.

Last month. He has been giving me pointers on the fuel
System I will need to be running for the new superchargers.

Thats one nice boat.. Awsome rigging.
I got to get a ride in it.

I met Walter " TKO" that owns the Regatta in Fall River.
I was at the Regatta with a couple of my friends.
Chilling out on a hot summer sunday. He had his boat
sitting on the trailer with a for sale sign on it.
I was checking it out and He Said you would look good
in that. I said Thanx but I'm broke from the old Hustler floating at the end of your dock.

I wish it was summer here. Instead we have 2 feet of snow on the ground.

Sutphen 30 we all got to get together this summer.

Let me know If your gonna be in the Rhode Island
Waters and well try to hook up..

I think I know who you're talking about and he keeps his boat at Between The Bridges marina in Old Saybrook, are the Zul's naturally aspirated? He told me at Claudios this past summer that the boat did close to 100, sounded real bad ass too!! That would be a great deal at that price. If I didn't have to build a garage and finish the master bath next year, it would be sitting in my driveway right now!
