The BCS sucks!!!
So, when Michigan (#4 BCS) beats USC (#1 AP) in the Rose Bowl, does that make The Blue national champions?????
The BCS does not work. |
I don't know if I would goes as far as to say it sucks. It is much better than what we had before.
If they really wanted to do it right, they would have playoffs or a tournament similar to pro football or NCAA basketball. |
It is a mess....you are right guys. USC got SCREWED though...#1 in both polls yet they do not get a shot at the mythical National Title.
I don't get it...:( :( Plus, the Bengals lost today..:( |
To be honest, I'm a TN Vol fan and by the BCS rankings we are really over rated but then if you believe them, we have been screwed by the bowl selection process - # 8 BCS, 7 Coaches, 6 AP - and are going to the lowely Peach Bowl. Oh well, we will face Clemson which really should be a good match up.
Just would have liked to face FSU to make it a sweep in Florida this year:D |
Playoffs. That's the only way. The whole bowl concept is lame. Besides, Oklahoma is the complete package and won't be beat no matter who they play...

Obviously, Oklahoma can and DID get beat by my K-State Wildcats!!! I mean beat bad; over 500 yards of offense and a final score of 35 - 7. Could have been 42 easy. I was at the game and didn't see squat from OU. I was expecting a loss and hoped for a humble showing. In turn we got the biggest win in our somewhat meager football history. Time to pack for Tempe. Bring on the Buckeye's |

Losses early in the season vs. losses late in the season are the real issue. If you want no controversy, don't lose. If you do lose though, you are subject to whatever the system gives you.
Of the 3 one loss teams, one was going to get shafted. LSU and USC took their free loss early, while Oklahoma took theirs late when they knew it didn't matter. Oklahoma dominated stronger teams than either of the other two. LSU played a tougher schedule than USC by a fraction, but still tougher. Deciding the national championship is the culmination of an entire season, not one game. Like it or not, on paper the 2 best teams in the country are playing for the title. All three were worthy but only 2 can play. The AP and Coaches polls are relevant, but biased because of the human aspect. I don't exactly agree with either poll, but without the BCS we would have TCU with one loss (and an extremely weak schedule) taking a bowl spot from far better teams. Imagine the crying you would hear had that happened. USC needs to suck it up and worry about Michigan. They are damn good and will stomp USC if they are still whining about the Sugar bowl come game day. It will also validate the BCS' selections, and USC doesn't want that. |

Oh yeah, and WHEN Michigan beats USC, are we then No. 1???
The BCS sucks. |
The two best teams should play each other, they are
Miami and Oklahoma. |
Miami and Oklahoma? Are you High Bob???? The two best teams are playing each other, in the Rose Bowl. :D
Go Blue. The BCS sucks. |

Originally posted by jmeng I've watched 4 or 5 Miami games this year and they didn't impress me at all. Not a good year for them at all. I don't think there even close to LSU, OU, USC, or Michigan. |
LSU will roll, no doubt about it.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! |
Go Blue

The BCS does suck. They had Ga over rated all year, as much as I wish they could play with those four teams. Congrats to LSU, they put it on us. All four teams deserve to be playing for the national championship, however that is impossible. I think that Oklahoma is going to have there hands full, however I'm not saying that LSU is going to win the game, I'm just saying it is going to be good. USC is going to have there hands full as well. Four great teams, two great games, just be happy you are there guys, you could be like the Bulldogs and going to a nothing bowl.

Geesh did I stick my foot in my mouth or what?! I posted that without even knowing OK lost until late today! I paid the college games no mind this weekend after getting caught up in a party Saturday for Army/Navy (annual tradition with me).
Oh well, despite the surprising loss (if they played again tomorrow the score would be reversed) I would give Oklahoma the odds against whomever in the big one because they are the best this year. But I agree, BCS is flawed; AP is flawed worse (purely subjective); and playoffs are long overdue and the only fair way. This kind of controversy happens every year.... |
Michigan doesn't have a chance in hell. We will talk more on Jan 2nd.

When Michigan beats USC we'll be NO.1 kinda, sorta.....

Actually had time to take a good look at USC's opponents for the season. Anyone or any system that says USC's strength of schedule is even close to the caliber of the teams LSU had to beat is deluded.
GO TIGERS!!! |
I can't... I'm a deadbeat.

I'm a deadbeat too. A broke deadbeat. And I've never been a gambler.
But, Go Blue |

I agree the BCS sucks, but so does the Hiesman decision. I'm sure that I will get all kinds of feed back on this, but it is hard to believe that Texas Tech's quaterback was not even in the final running after breaking the all time NCAA record. Give me a break. Everything is to dam polictal.
"Symons set the NCAA single-season mark with 5,336 passing yards, breaking the former record of 5,188, set by former BYU quarterback Ty Detmer in 1990. Symons also leads the nation in nearly every passing and total offense category, including touchdowns passes (48), passing yards per game (444.7) and total offense yards per game (456.3). He also turned in the third-best single-game passing performance in NCAA history with 661 yards in a come-from-behind win at Mississippi earlier in the season. In addition to his single-season passing record, Symons also set five other NCAA records in single-season total offense yards (5,476), consecutive games of 400-plus yards of total offense (9), most passing yards over four-consecutive games (2,239), most total offense yards over three-consecutive games (1,799) and most total offense yards over four-consecutive games (2,328)." http://texastech.ocsn.com/sports/m-f...120503aaa.html |
What was Tech's record this year???

7-5, but look the scores of some of the toughest games. If we had only had a defense as strong as the offense.......

We know who played the toughest schedules: Oklahoma and LSU. We know who won the most games:Oklahoma and LSU. (Too bad the PAC 10 does not have a conference championship game). Who had the worst loss? Oklahoma lost to K State 35-7 on a neutral field. K-State's schedule was ranked 10th in the country, finished 11-3, ranked 10th in the BCS and in the top ten in each poll. LSU lost at home to Fla. 19-7. Fla. had the 5th toughest schedule in the country, finished 8-4, 15th in BCS and 17th in each poll. USC lost at Cal. 34-31 in three ot's. Cal's schedule was weaker than K-State's and Fla.'s, finished 7-6 and UNRANKED. LSU played four games against teams now in January bowls. Oklahoma played two. USC played NONE. The Sugar Bowl is the national championship game. GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
