Default Fountain / MTI question

What are the differences between the scism/fountain cats and just MTI cats?? Are there quality differences? Is there a weight or performance difference? Gimme the lowdown...

Is that deal still alive? I thought Reggie was going to build non race boats and Randy would build race boats with canopies? Not really sure.

You would think if Fountain was still involved that there would be some mention of it in his ads.

They no longer work together. If you have any questions about MTI's or their quality, design, workmanship, etc., feel free to give me a call at (513) 706-3199. We rigged a SCL raceboat and must say he builds one of the nicest boats in the World, not just the US. And they have won the last 3 Super Cat World Championships.

Powerboat Magazine did an article on him at the Orange Beach worlds that should be on the stands soon.

I met Randy Scism at the OB worlds. He probably won't remember me, but I think he was a great guy. We talked a few minutes about his thoughts on deisel electrics, and he said he even has a customer asking about that kind of power.

Fountain built at least six but less than eight boats off MTI's molds.

The first boats built in Fountain's plant were a bit lighter than the previous MTI's but subsequent MTIs matched the weight of the Fountain layup (I believe they changed something about the vac bagging procedure).

There were no "real" differences in the Fountain and MTI other than some of the graphics and some very minor trim or seating issues - no more dramatic than you see from a year to year change in a model built by the same mfr..

Been intimate with an MTI with 1050 Sterlings and drysump 6s, and a Fountain/Scism with 575SCIs and XR;s (later BMaxes). Aside from the obvious power and driveline differences, the boats themselves were essentially the same (the MTI had an extra set of handles on the interior gunwale - whooee).
