OMG!!!

105mph_38_2003 12-16-2003 11:22 AM

I did'nt know we had mountain lions down here:eek:

That is a huge cat!!!

dreamer 12-16-2003 11:33 AM

killing a beautiful animal like that makes me SICK!!!
some one should shoot him... he would not be missed by me

MitchStellin 12-16-2003 12:19 PM

That is a giant, it is too bad it was shot, it is such a beautiful Cat. I can't see how he could pick that thing up. I am not a tree hugger but i would much rather see it roaming free than on a mount. I am with dreamer, it is a shame.:(

ChrisK 12-16-2003 12:58 PM

Is it even LEGAL to kill them?

tomtbone1993 12-16-2003 02:33 PM

I don't hunt, so I don't know if it is legal or not. I heard the real story about this guy is he was unlocking his boat stall and found this cat on "steroids" sleeping on the bow of his boat. But I don't know!!!!

Just Say N2O 12-16-2003 04:14 PM

Got to dissagree. It seems to piss a lot of people off for some reason, but we are at the top of the food chain.

If there is a fight between an animal and a human (unless its Saddam, but I'm not sure he's human), I'm voting for the human to win every time.

I don't know what the circustances were for this killing, but I find Dreamer's comments frightening.

Is it food? I dunno, but I wouldn't order it if it were on the menu. If it was shot for sport, that's pretty lame.

i find that statement frightening

what an A$$

less than 200 tigers left in the wild... but their bones make a great aphrodisiac

less than 800 highland mountain gorillas( our genetic cousins) left ... but their hands make niffty ashtrays!

somew a$$hole goes to a national park and feeds a grizzley trash and now we HAVE to kill it cause its not afraid of humans

what gives us the right...

hell we are all bad enough blowing insane amounts of fossil fuel out our boat's tale pipes!!!

Pointerman 12-16-2003 04:43 PM

Then sell your car and boat and shut up.

dreamer 12-16-2003 04:46 PM

i would but i like them to much:)

Pointerman 12-16-2003 04:58 PM

And apparently this guy likes shooting moutain lions (which are not endangered by the way) so who is worse here? The person who knows what they are doing is wrong and continues or the person that has no reservations about what he is doing and continues?

clearcut3 12-16-2003 04:59 PM

I got that picture about 2 weeks ago from someone I work with. He said a guy he knew in Canada killed it.

Also mountain lions are FAR from endangered and VERY legal to hunt in a lot of states. A friend of mine killed one in Oregon last year that was 6'6" long. He just got it back from the taxidermist, if I had a picture I would post but the one I had was not digital.

What a pretty animal, kind of sad it was shot, but it probably would have attacked the guy.

I WOULD LIKE TO HUNT A HUNTER.............

jpclear 12-16-2003 07:19 PM

Maybe if we had a pic. of the lion eating the guy, Dreamer would be happy. Could some of you computer graphics guys come up with that??

Just Say N2O 12-16-2003 08:26 PM

Dreamer, you posted a portion of my post. Am I to believe that you consider a lion to be more valuable than a human being?

I don't support the wanton distruction of anything, but flip over to the Discovery channel sometime and watch how wild animals treat themselves. IF there were only 2 lions left in the whole world, a. they wouldn't know it, or care about it, b. would be just as likely to kill each other trying to establish who was dominant.

We don't know this guy was shooting this thing for sport (it was found on his boat, or he shot it in Canada, or etc.....), if it was for self preservation, I'm voting for the human to win. I happen to believe we have immeasurably more value than any of the other creatures. It is the order of things.

Just Say N2O 12-16-2003 08:34 PM

Dreamer, am I the A$$ you are referring to? Or people from bass ackwards 3rd world armpit nations who are making stimulants and ashtrays?

BTW, you seem great at making up numbers. And, I suspect a little thought would lead to some interesting conclusions. Probably too much to expect.

Also, while primates might have similar DNA to humans, they aren't my cousins.

What the heck, I'm feeling pissy, we didn't evolve from them either. They were created as primates, always have been primates and always will be. We were created as humans, always have been and always will be.

LapseofReason 12-16-2003 08:48 PM

I don't hunt anymore, mainly because I hate to be cold. It is a beautiful cat but if I saw it on my property I would kill it too. I have kids they come first and if it's that close to me already it would snatch a 6 year old up in a second.

The following pictures are of a guy who works for the Forest Service in
Alaska. He was out deer hunting when a very, very large,
world-record-sized Grizzly charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy
unloaded a
7mm Magnum Semi-automatic into the bear and dropped it, finally, when it was
only a few feet away. The monster was still alive, so he reloaded and
capped it in the head. The Grizzly weighed over one thousand, six hundred
pounds, was 12'6" high at the shoulder, 14' to the top of his head. It was
the largest grizzly bear ever recorded in the world. Of course, the game
department did not let him keep it: It will be mounted and put on display at
the
Anchorage airport (to remind tourist's of the risks involved when
in the wiild). Think about it. You would be at eye level with the bear's
belly button when he stood, and he would look you in the eye when walking
on all fours. This bear, standing on its hind legs, could walk up to the
average single story house and look out over its roof .... The bear had
killed - and partially devoured - 2 other people before running into our
hero. His last meal was a man on a nature hike. The Forest Service found
that poor fellow's 38-caliber near his partially-devoured corpse, emptied.
He'd shot
6-times and hit the grizzly 4 (they found seven 7mm slugs and four
38 caliber slugs in him) but obviously only wounded him since that
incident was estimated to have occurred about 3 days prior to the bear's
death
at the hands of the Forest Service man.

dreamer 12-17-2003 07:40 AM

now i am really disgusted ... the bear showed no sign of agression and did NOTT KILL anyone the day before!!!!
i would like to tie that guys sack to a rope to my swim platform and take him out water skiing off the back of my cig!!!( while avoiding manatees of course)

shooting an animal like that is awful... not in self defense not for food

clearcut3 12-17-2003 07:48 AM

Some are actually educated and understand the value of wildlife management....some definitely are not

Actually, most hunters that shoot bears do eat the meat. From what I understand they are quite tasty.

And for the guy that would like to hunt a hunter... bring it on. Of course, I only hunt upland game, so maybe I'm not the type of guy you want to wipe out. I am amazed at how many people have no qualms about going to a grocery store and picking animal carcasses out of the frozen section, but think those that have the guts to chase our own food are some how evil. Most liberals don't really understand what they believe and most won't actually change their lives to stand behind what they believe. Case in point about Dreamer and his boat that guzzles fossil fuels.

stecz20 12-18-2003 07:14 AM

i could never shoot an animal. there are some people id like to shoot. i never understood the hunters, im not saying i dont believe you should not be able to do it. just not for me. my idea of a hunt, kill the animal with a knife of hit it over the head, maybe catch it with you bare hands. using a high powered rifle with a scope, how is that hunting. at least use a bow and give some chase. just my 2 cents. again, i believe in hunting just not for me. i also believe in burning 200 gall of fuel in 6 hours.

R Addiction 12-18-2003 08:17 AM

I'm leaving this alone......I see it from all sides just can't decide. Beautiful animal.....circle of life(have kids watched Lion King),............... sport:confused:

10x 12-18-2003 10:25 AM

Too bad the people that would like to hunt hunters wer'nt on that trail instead of that guy going for a jog. Or maybe their wife or girlfriend taking the kids for a nature stroll. Would be interesting to see their post then

dreamer 12-20-2003 11:50 PM

okay im back from my miami vacation let start the arguing again!!

P.S. i hunt upland game as well... but they are not as vital to the higher "chain of life" as the great bears or cats are as the lower species are
