Default Weight and Towing

I'm thinking of trading up from an 18 foot Sutphen with a 350 Chevy to a 26 foot Sutphen with twin 200hp outboards (and a dual axle trailer). Can my 1998 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with a 5.2 liter V-8 handle it? The book says I can tow up to 6,000 pounds, and I think the boat and trailer will be under that (guessing).?
Any knowledgeabe comments would be appreciated? Dave

I'm sure it will pull it, but its a question of how will it stop and handle while towing. You would have to get the exact weight of the boat and trailer to be sure. Is the truck a short bed or long bed, extended cab or regular. If it has the long wheel base the truck will handle better while towing. Another thing make sure the trailer has electric or surge brakes and more importantly, they work. My guess would be that it would tow it pretty good.
