One can get insurance. You must be willing to live with the limitations of what they are willing to cover. Simply business.

Ditch the Mercury idea; it’s a time bomb behind a turbine.

The Arneson's will hold up to the power better than anything else and don't cost you a fortune.

I am sure you have herd of "Jet Set" . 40 skater here in jersey with BIG turbines ! His Arnesons are the ticket ! They are inspected every time the boat goes out and to my knolage, never had a problem . And he uses the hell out of it ! One of his guys was at my shop a few days ago looking for power upgrade for his truck . Said he "cruises " at 190 now !!!!

If it were a jet engine in a jet, I could tell you.
A jet engine in a boat? I think I would talk to the guys out there doing this on a daily basis- Arneson, Callun, MTT etc. They have to be picking it up from somewhere. Arneson has been running turbines for a very long time.
Good Luck!!!

While in KW over the Holidays, I went out in a new 46' Cig w/ twin 1075s. Very impressive. They start, idle and run great. The neatest part was you couldn't stall them when shifting gears with big wheels. The computer automatically kept the idle at Mercury's preset rpm.

Not for a while, I think I've achieved my level of incompetence for now! And you should know me by now I'll upgrade the whole package not just parts!

Merc's been "introducing" the 1075 (nee 1050) for two years now. I'll believe it when I see them out there in numbers. In the meantime, they have successfully strung a number of us along for two years now...

If I was in the market for this power, I'd be at Sterling or MTT. Or SeaTek.

KiloKat - Idle air control (IAC) on EFI engines is decades-old technology.
