The new 39' Outerlimits

1 Attachment(s)
I spent yesterday with Pete Mazzo and Mike Fiore at the Outerlimits factory in RI. Pete is getting the first 39' quad step made of carbon fiber epoxy.

This boat will be shown in Miami along with Mike's new super secret boat that will better his own speed record of 147.

Here's a CAD shot of the new 39.

This is a second try at the paint job. It will something like this photo, but not quite. See it in Miami and then at Poker runs across the country.

Comes staggered or with trips :D

Ron P 01-11-2004 03:25 PM

Staggered 525s with Bravo ITS drives makes it run 101. compare that to the Cig 38 in Powerboat at 86 with the same power.

Removable canopy?? That's the one! He asked me not to share the photos as he want so keep it under wraps for the Miami show.

LEOPAJM 01-11-2004 03:28 PM

Whats the new 39 weigh in at ?

Where's it start @ compared to the Cig. $$$ ???

Ron P 01-11-2004 03:30 PM

I don't know the price and they don't know the final weight yet as the boat is under contruction. They got 101 out of the heavy wood/glass plug.

LEOPAJM 01-11-2004 03:32 PM

Hang on "swoopy" ... "swoopy" hang on ... da da da da da da .....:D

Here's the deck plug being sanded smooth (no ripples) prior to being buffed out to a mirror shine.

LEOPAJM 01-11-2004 03:47 PM

What's the cabin head room gonna be ?

beam ?

Ron P 01-11-2004 03:51 PM

It should have the same dimensions as the 42. Same width 9' and same depth of cockpit and cabin. Also the running surface is almost the same using 4 steps, with the front one being aerated from the surface of the deck.

This is the back of the deck.

Here's an Epoxy 47 with cabin being built for long run endurance records. The boat holds 600 gallons of fuel.

Uh, the boat is still in the 55 gallon drums.

Those shots are from yesterday. The hull plug was just about to come out of the mold and the deck mold was a day or two away from being started. They said it would be in Miami, on a Myco trailer with paint and a full interior. Juist don't expect any demo rides.:)

Here's the hull mold with the plug still inside. Ain't she perty.

FIORE IS ON TOP OF THE GAME WITH THE NEW S H I T

Ron P 01-11-2004 04:19 PM

He sure isn't taking a back seat to ANYONE.

Jassman 01-11-2004 04:27 PM

Nice looking Nortech, Oh I meant Outerlimits. Looks like softer, more rounded lines, built in swim platform, raised sections in dash, dont forget to put on the round air scoops by the sunpad:p :)

The paint does look awesome though:D

rockstrmkr 01-11-2004 04:37 PM

Jassman -
LOL...my thoughts exactly !

Ron P 01-11-2004 04:47 PM

Funny, it will have rounded air intakes on the sides of the sunpad. Hey it works and looks great while being different from NorTech.

Jassman 01-11-2004 04:51 PM

Ron P, you forgot to do this:p :D

Ron P 01-11-2004 06:14 PM

:p :D

Steve 1 01-11-2004 07:09 PM

Well I for one hope Mike puts the Speed record in the stratosphere and has a safe run..

Lucididee 01-11-2004 09:05 PM

Ron,

I heard a rumor about someone in NJ (that raced in the APBA) was talking about getting into long endurance racing. By any chance is this boat going to be for Fiore or for someone else?

Also, is Mazzo's boat going to be done for the AC Poker Run?

Ron P 01-11-2004 09:13 PM

Sonance?? Thats for a guy in California. Pete's boat will be completed long before June. It only takes them 8 weeks to deliver a new boat, once they make the molds.

Rumor has it, there might be someone from NJ involved with an unannounced endurance race.

When is the NJPPC run to A/C? Hopefully by OPA moving the brick race to June 27th, there won't be a schedule conflict this year.

LEOPAJM 01-11-2004 09:44 PM

Hey Ron .....

Any idea what the "blurred" pic is that they used for the new OL add to announce the 39 in PBM ????

Ron P 01-11-2004 09:58 PM

I just saw that today too. Maybe it was the running plug??? It was all grey with a plywood deck so I won't want a clear photo of it either.

Oh.. :p :D

Lucididee 01-11-2004 10:18 PM

Usually the NJPPC A/C Overnite PR Run is the 1st weekend of June. I was kind of figuring that it will be the same. Their schedule is not posted yet. If I remember correctly the OPA race & NJPPC AC Run where exactly the same dates last year.

Is the OPA schedule complete yet?

LEOPAJM 01-12-2004 08:27 AM

Hmmm .... it does kinda look a little "Nor-techy" .....

outer42 01-12-2004 08:58 AM

not even close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEJOKER 01-12-2004 09:21 AM

The boat and tooling is unbelieveable!

There is no other high performance boat company pushing the envelope the way Outer Limits does. All other V-hull manufacturers can pick their seat in the back row! BH

the boat isn't even out of the mold, it will be at the Miami show.
you guys need to get a life, don't you have anything better to do than trash a boat that not even done???????
if you'd own one or ride in one you'd know they are not like any!!!!!!!!

DoTheMath 01-12-2004 09:33 AM

It's becoming a whole new era in high performance!

101mph with twin 525's!?!?! HOLY SHIZZZZZZZNIT!!! That is awesome!! What did it take just 5 or so years ago to push a (real) 39' boat with a full cabin to those speeds?

Reggie... er, the Mercury boys better start staying late at the office from now on, they have some serious work to do. :D

Congrats to Mike and the Fiore family, they have out done the rest. Now I REALLY can't wait for Miami!

outer42 01-12-2004 09:34 AM

thank-you do the math

SETTLE DOWN CHIEF !!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't trash it ... and I didn't say I didn't like it !!!

But you have to admit that the lines are VERY similar to the Nortech ..... Scott .... I'm starting to think you have some kind of complex about your boat ????

Don't worry .... no one's out to get you ... it's gonna be OK !!!!!!!

JM
