Back to the question.
That's what's great about poker runs, ANY boat will do!
It's not a race, it's all about fun.

To me, Poker Runs are about having fun. Sure, I'd like to have a serious contender for "first one in", but unless I hit the lottery, that isn't going to happen. I have as much fun running as anyone out there. I love watching the big bad boats go flying by, it helps with the conversation back at the "wet pits". If you want a "contender" you're going to spend BIG bucks obtaining the boat and BIG bucks maintaining that boat. If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it.
Right now I know I can't. I have a house, a wife, and a "honey do" list.

A boat with a set of red and blue lights with big badge on the side and a couple deputies with no sense of humor - used to discuss proper boating safety with folks who think it's a good idea to drink and run a high performance boat in close proximity to a bunch of other high performance boats.

That makes the poker run for the rest of us that don't leave our common sense in the truck.
