So far Ive found property in Ruskin, Parrish, Myakka, Spring Hill to name a few. Now have to check out the areas in person and see what we like.

For those who have followed my attempt to find a place from Michigan to Florida, this winter has proven harder on my 6 surgerie spine than I would have imagined so back south we go...

Zero to 10 below tonight, that's gonna frost the prop's

epeek 01-15-2004 08:25 PM

Trout, sounds like you love the north. God bless ya.
It's -10 right now and Iv'e been in & out of the cold
all day. I have one thing to say about it. IT SUCKS.
I would rather be boating 10 months a year than
the 4 months we get. Of the 4 months we get,
half the time it rains here in the Northeast.
I can say that it is beautiful here though. Just
wish it was warmer for longer.

Consintracy,
Like I said in the original post, I just try to save one person from living in a feezing hell. You come on down any time and I'll buy you a beer and we can sit back and enjoy the day.

Everyone else, sounds like misery loves company.

Me, I'm just trying to help a brother out. Let others see the light.... without it reflecting off the snow.

Just here to help....but some people can't be helped.

Two interesting assumptions- (damn I hate that word:rolleyes: )#1) that people who live in the north are miserable, and #2) that they need your help:rolleyes:
Just kidding of course:) I've been in every state in the nation, and every province in Canada. There's a place for everyone.;) :D
And yes, I AM looking forward to coming down to the boat show in February.

Guys, quit thinking you have it better down south...you know nothing.

Positives to boating up north in January:

Cooler oil temp

Higher horsepower

Denser water...much denser...you know, come to think about it...it's pretty solid

If the boat breaks down you just get out and walk back to shore

You don't really need to tie up at the dock...the boat isn't going anywhere after a minute of sitting there...it ices back up

You don't need to wear PFD's, you certainly aren't going to drown because you won't break through the top 6" of extra dense water

You really don't need to wear a high SPF sunscreen

You don't need to bring ice along to keep your beer cold

In December it's much more festive and Christmassy on the water than down south...who wants to be down south on Christmas??

Our woman always want us down in the cabin to keep them warm, and you know what that leads to!!

The boat always stays on plane...ALWAYS (odd how there's no bow rise)

No chance of sinking tow vehicle at the ramp because you messed up and backed too far in on the green mucky algae

The water isn't nearly as crowded

No pesky water patrol out to bust you for open exhaust

Poker Run entry fees are drastically reduced

You know I could just continue and go on and on...but I don't want to bum you guys out too much.

:D :D :D :D

Reed Jensen 01-15-2004 09:12 PM

I'll just stay here in SoCal and shovel sunshine.... :D

Debbie and I were out last Saturday looking for something very similar to what you are looking for. We went just east of Tampa to the Lake Thonotossassa area. There is still some room out there and the prices aren't rediculous. We looked at 3.68 acres for $89k. The best thing is you are only about 45 minutes to the gulf, and it's all interstate. It's where I 4 and I 75 cross. I want to move there because I travel so much for work. It would save me three hours a day when I have to go to Orlando, which is quite often. I think it would be worth you checking into.

If you get down this way and the weather is nice, drop me a line and maybe we can take you out to get a taste of the area's boating. It's great!

I don't know why you southerns don't like the north. I mean tomorrow is going to be beautiful.:hothead: :hothead:

rchevelle71 01-16-2004 08:19 AM

OK, here is my last post in this thread,

I Love New England, I grew up there, and still have family there,

Here are the 2 main reasons I moved South,

1. Look at all the pretty leaves turning colors, now lets go home and spend 2 days raking them off the friggin yard, just to have the neighbors leaves blow back in tomorrow.

2. Look honey its snowing!!! How pretty, now get out there in the 10 degrees with 20 MPH winds, and shovel all that Sh8t off the driveway, so I can go shopping.

OK honey, get right on it, no big deal.

30 minutes later.....

Ahhh, almost done, just got the bottom of the driveway left, then I can go sit in front of the fire, and watch some football.

10 minutes later..........

O.K., Just one more scoop, and I am done, whats that grumbling noise???? Oh Sh8t, its the plow guy!!!!

Mother Focker, all that sh8ts back in the driveway!!!!!

10 minutes later..........

Shooter 01-16-2004 08:27 AM

In all seriousness,

It is just too expensive vs. the benefits for us at this point. Especially if you live for the boat and beach. I'm over the top funding state government, out of control local municipalities and school boards with not interest in accoutability, insurance companies who have claimed at operating at a loss, blah blah blah.

I really do love where I live, it's just that the ante has been upped every year I have lived and worked here. After a while you lay it all out and make a decision to finad another game with better odds, not perfect, just better odds.

Why do you think companies are running out of the NY/NJ area also?

It's called reaching a point of diminishing returns.

Consintracy 01-16-2004 08:28 AM

LOL.....Todd just asked what I was reading and I told him it was one of the threads on the weather.
Next thing I know....he's in the kitchen singing (and I've kinda' got him tuned out) "Oh the weather outside is frightful, the fire is so delightful.....since, we've no place to go........Let's have sex, let's have sex, let's have sex."
LOL!

Consintracy 01-16-2004 08:30 AM

OH.....btw.....Todd knows he gets more sex when we're in Florida......up here I always wanna' stay bundled up in wooly sweaters and long johns!!:D

Consintracy 01-16-2004 08:30 AM

Was that too much info?

Shooter 01-16-2004 08:30 AM

My wife says she will have less stress in FLA which equals more sex - OH GOODY!

Well I am already one step ahead. Already have plans to head down to Florida next Friday to look for work. I am really looking forward to the warmer weather this time of the year. And the babes. The only thing that I dread is the unbearable summer heat and humidity. But hey, 4 months of that beats 6 months of cold.

Reed Jensen 01-16-2004 08:20 PM

yeah... pretty hard to be romantic when the most important thing is trying to stay under the covers..... All that humping just shuffles cold air under the covers... and warm air out! :D

Reed Jensen 01-16-2004 08:22 PM

Hey RWI.... the easiest way to deal with the heat and humidity is to wear shorts and "go commando" ! :p

Todd knows how to warm up "the most important thing" just fine!!

Reed Jensen 01-16-2004 08:27 PM

yeah.... but you will look pretty rediculous freezing in one of the "love swings" that these studs talk about installing from the rafters! :p

NASTY HABIT 01-16-2004 08:57 PM

Stay away from Florida ...it sucks down here...Hot, Humid, bugs and alot of other rodents . There certainly is no money to be made here either....I think we are gonna move north . I cannot take it any more. I should hav estayed up north . All my friends and family warned me about this place , I wish I would have listened.

BUYER BEWARE !!

Consintracy 01-16-2004 08:59 PM

Yeah!!! What Nasty Habit said!!

Reed Jensen 01-16-2004 09:25 PM

I can remember hearing the same thing said about California..... telling me " You'll be back... back with your tail between your legs" I left the frozen state of Utah 14 years ago.... now all my buddies want to come visit me. It doesn't matter where you are living or moving to... right now the economy sucks... all of our manufacturing jobs are going offshore... and I don't mean offshore boating... I mean to china... or to Mexico.... The whole damn economy is melting down because of the cheap imports and lack of work here. If you are planning to relocate... best to have steady job prospects BEFORE you pull up stakes... I did and never looked back.

Mr. Demeanor 01-16-2004 09:30 PM

Trucks out of the shop. I should be on the road south by Monday
