Torch Lake Michigan

The best place to put in and take out is at Elk Lake. I had to learn that the hard way. Broke the boat winch putting at the north end of torch, spent day trying to figure a spot to pull out and was told about Elk and sure enough and great landing with primitive camping also. Dwight

I don't know about the water level in the River now, is it controlled by a Dam?. A few years ago We put in at Skegmog Lake and idled through the River, We came out right at the sand bar at the south end of Torch Lake. The biggest boat was a 336 Formula and He was leading the way.

Dyno...
You can get a 30 up the river... Skegmog is an Indian word that stands for Hidden Stump Eating Outdrive... I suggest running close to trailer.... Up. The launch in Alden is out of the question for anything bigger than 26'.
My family has a house in Alden... You come up to play I will through the PARTY!
I have a place to launch but its one of those secrets! If tell you I have to kill you. Ok I wouldn't kill you but you cant tell anyone else.
It's getting tough to get a big boat on Torch the people on the lake don't really like um. A few bad apple's have messed it up.
As I said you plan the event let me know the date and I will through the party.

I remember using the ramp at the north end of Torch around 12 years ago when I had a Hydrostream. I remember the ramp being very steep. Then a few years later I used the ramp at the north end of Elk and that one was pretty flat. I don't know if I want to be pulling the 32 up that steep of ramp.
I do remember the first time I was on the lake it was so flat that the Hydrostream would pick up speed when I caught the 1 inch ripple and then start to suck to the water when I ran over the glass like water. The next time the lake was breaking 2-3 foot white caps.
