I hear ya.

Its fixed now. I wrapped the new one in insulated tape and pipe insulation. I also got one of those boxes that covers it up. Fingers are crossed.

You are right Cord. I need to have the city install a meter. That just shot up to the top of things I need to do.

I know in boston it costs about 450 to have it done but it can save hundreds on your water/sewer bill. The insulation will help, but if you have time get the heat wrap and plug it into an extension cord.

If at all possible, look into recessing the valve below ground. It'll be out of sight, away from the lawn mower or any errant kids and will be a touch warmer. From what I can see, the plumber would only need to desolder 2 fittings and shorten the pipes. Time=15-30 minutes.
