The skipper is the one the surveyor used. It must suck. or the surveyor sucks. Which I already know.

The moisture meter is only as good as the guy using it. i had a surveyor tell me I had a wet transom, but only a foot above the waterline. We went into the boat and I showed him the transom thickness where he said it was wet and to his amazement the transom was three times as thick where it was "wet" due to reinforcement, as opposed to just 'glass below that where he said it was dry. By the way, this was an inboard boat so the transom is just there to keep water out, not to provide a thrust surface for a drive system.

You may want to discuss this with an attorney. The question would be by missing this major defect, is it a case of gross negligence. Also did the surveyor have any type of liability insurance?

SKRAMER 01-27-2004 08:04 PM

she said she has liability insurance but it is only for if she damages something while doing her job. I'm not sure if this applies to neglect. I was hoping someone else had this problem and they could tell me what they did. But I guess I'll have to call an attorney.

LET'S SAY A BANK HAS PAPER ON A BOAT LIKE THIS. AND THEY REQUIRED THIS SURVEY AND YOU WALKED AWAY FROM THE LOAN.(WITH AN ATTORNEY) DO YOU THINK A BANK WOULD TAKE ACTION. YOU BET THEY WOULD. YOU AND THE BANK DEPEND ON THAT SURVEY. WHAT IS BONDED & INSURED MEAN. IT SEAMS TO BE SOMETHING YOU CAN WIPE YOUR A$$ WITH. IF THIS WAS A MISTAKE ON THE SURVEYOR'S PART ITS NO DIFFERENT THAN AN ACCIDENT IN YOUR CAR. SOMEONES INSURANCE MUST PAY FOR THE DAMAGE!!!!! THIS ONLY MEANS THAT THIS (RMEG GROUP) NEEDS THEIR ETHICS STRAIGHTENED OUT IN COURT. A BANK CAN AFFORD IT. NOT A WORKING MAN!!! THE ATTORNEYS WOULD RIP YOU OFF AND YOU KNOW IT. AS ALWAYS THE JUSTICE SYSTEM SUCKS!!!!

got 3 words for you....

"A" "TURN" "E"

That's F@CKED Up. Someone should pay for that mistake, and a good lawyer should figure it out.

Good luck, i hope it works out.
