I would go with the 300xs. Speed of the 2.5s with the reliably of the 225s and oil injection. They should run well over 100mph.

I would say if you want fun and reliable go with the 225. You will pick up a couple miles per hour with the 2.5 and 300's but at a HUGE increase in price and also maintenence. Remember outboards unlike big blocks can run WOT all day long.

I agree Audiofn, except go with the 300x's, they should be about 4-$5,000 more per engine over the 225's, speed will increase greatly with an extra 100 h.p. per engine.

now mercury has a 5 year warrenty on some of there motors as long as there are not used for charter captin's or put on the race .. don't think they care about poker boats
