Each year someone schedules a race on the same weekend as the Ozarks Shootout. They did it two years ago in Texas and lost boats to the Shootout, but claimed it didn't hurt them. Then again last year, claimed they wouldn't lose any boats to the shootout because it was a "small amature event". Afterwards they agreed they lost a few boats, (including their top two crowd pleasers) and some press.
So, what do they do????

They schedule SARASOTA on the same freaking weekend...
AGAIN !!!

So Mike,
Does this mean you are not running in the Shootout this year?

Gordo 02-19-2004 05:34 PM

Carrie,
I don't know yet. It may depend on how the season goes.

SummerO,
I've been to Key West? ;)

Anyone sure there will be a shootout this year. Been hearing rumaors about Shooters not opening. And now I found this:

FYI, I'm pretty sure those are shooters docks for sale. Hmmm, a shootout without Shooters?

Yea, I'm sure it will happen. There's enough momentum that they could do it with out shooters. Perhaps the horney toad? Remember, they have some vacant land next door. :hothead:

Cord,
Shooters has always been a big sponsor, and getting the WP permission and no wake, permits, locations, etc is not trivial at LOTO.
Just wondering if another resteraunt/resort would take the trouble to pick it up. This is what happened with the boat races at the Lake.

i had heard a rumor that shooters had sold to a group of investors from K.C. one of the first things they were going to do is sell off the old docks and replace them with new. is there any validity to this?

Chad
Looks like the docks are for sale, but I didn't hear about the buyer. I'll call BWJs owner, he usually keeps up on this stuff. Just hope I can get a slip this year.

BTW, these docks look familiar too?

I saw an ad in the KC paper a few weeks ago someone was looking for investors to open Shooters.

Cord 02-24-2004 03:45 PM

Those are the horney's right? Those were some nice ones. Hmmm....

rich- now you got me really confused. i was hoping the rumor was true.

G.A. - yeah, i hope you get your slip again too....the view from your slip was great! did you notice there were a lot of scandily clad women walking by your boat every night?? :D i'm sure you didn't..... ;) BTW, i heard you moved to the St. C area.

as i'm sure i can speak for Gary, Tbone and myself. i've had some great times at Shooters.....i just wish i could remember all of them! :D

I was looking through the ads for lake homes and ran across it. The way the ad read was this person owned it or was buying Shooters and was looking for investors.
Maybe one of your local former friends is looking to buy it.
:D

I just got confirmation that Shooters is under new ownership! Yahoo!

Good deal! Those docks were dangerous!

Yes they were. New docks (with maybe an expansion), a little cleaning up inside, hiring a new kitchen staff, and Shooters 21 will be back to the icon it once was :)
That's a little optimistic. You on medication again Trout?

Heard similar stories from previous owners. But the reality is that they have 12 nights a year to make thier payments. Mark Michaels was about the only guy who had really improved that place in the last decade, and that was probably because he was related to the original owner. Let's hope the new owners dont run out of money too quick.

JBK, Yep, moved about a mile or 2 from Tbone. There goes the neighborhood!

I, um , got sidetracked that night at Velvet. Let me know when you'll be out around here again. I'll join you for another drink or 2. Maybe we can even talk Tbone into a Mich. Ultra or something:D
