Who owns the V bottom speed record?
We're all sick of hearing the same people argue the same thing over and over so let's have the poll results do the talking.
Silence please.;) |
Those poll descriptions suck and should be ignored.......

It is just biased....that's all.

The question is who owns the record. I don't own either boat. But I thought top speed wise the Fountain was holding that record?
new NPA record stands. what is that about now? |
you forgot allan4 is a putz!!!!!!!!!

Dont believe the hype, it's a sequel

One way is not two. And a full canopied race boat is all it takes to beat a pleasure boat.
|
to me it seems very simple..... WHO RAN FASTER... that is all there is to it
|
all it says is V - Bottom nothing about canopies or radio's or seats! :D
|
both are canopied
"race" boats |
If this is what Billy Frenz's association (NPBA) considers sanctioning (riding in the boat looking at a GPS).......then I would say OL's attempt is valid.....but is that really what they would consider "an officially sanctioned event"? Would anyone?
|
It says V-hull no more no less. both were V-hull style boats.
|
let's get em both side by side like NHRA style racing and see who is the king of the hill!
|
That OL run means nothing to me. The rule has always been in the past a average over a kilometer. I am sure that Regies boat was over the 161 mark at some point in their run. Also how did they average the MPH over a kilometer with gps? I am under the impresion that the run is in a trap not GPS. I am not trying to take anything away from either one of them it just seems like they are BOTH playing under their own rules. :(

Ive had a stray number pop up on my GPS a couple times. Faster than my boat can go by 5mph. Last time it happened my wife was driving so I have to live with her proof that she can get more speed out of the boat than I can. Ive also had some wild numbers pop up while idleing thru Chicago I suppose due to the signal bouncing. GPS is not perfect.

Where's Hoyle?
|
It's all BULL.
|
I love my GPS, but it's not always accurate like a stop watch over a given distance.
|
This whole debate is really ridiculous. The bottom line is did OL run a kilo sponsored by a sanctioning body like Reggie? Did the course meet all of the requirements in the rule books? Were there surveyors there and time officials on other boats to calculate the speed? I honestly don't know the answer and these are legitimate questions. If the answer is no to any of these then OL should not hold the record. That's not to say that I don't think that boat could break the record or run those speeds because I do. I'm sure that boat ran at or very close to what the gps said. However, rules are rules. Bottom line if the rules were not upheld then he is not the record holder. I didn't make the rules nor do I know them all, that's why i'm asking.

Good post impulsive...I still think OL #1
|
Blahh Blahhh Blahhh.............. you guys are rivaling any tread that has the word Apache in it.

if you dont own a fountain or a outerlimit how can yoy get on here and rag these brands is it jealousy. some own bajas nothin wrong with them , some own others . each is his own. yes i own a fountain iwould love a OL but my pocket book says no way, the best way to settle this is to get them side by side, same power same distance , first one there is the king.:(

Impulsive, I agree 100%

If you read the press release put out concerning the OL claim to a record run, it states the following:
"This run was confirmed by co-pilot, Billy Frenz, Executive Director of the NPBA (National Powerboat Association). " and averaged 161.29 MPH for a kilometer verified on > "state of the art" GPS in his new 47' canopied model named, "XXX". So if you take that press release at its own word you might conclude the following: 1. The only representative from the sanctioning body to witness the event was: The co-pilot/throttle-man 2. The only official present to caculate the boat's speed was: the co-pilot/throttle-man 3. The only official to verify that the boat actually ran on the course in question much less that it ran within the requirements to break a new world record was: the co-pilot/throttle-man 4. The only official present to certify that the survey equipment used was proper and in a working condition capable of accurately calculating their speed was: the co-pilot/throttle-man. 5. Basically, the only evidence that OL offers up to document that they have set a NEW WORLD RECORD is the word of: the co-pilot/throttle-man. No official surveyors, no official timers, no offical judges, no official referees, no official survey equipment to accurately calculate their true speed, no film crew to document the entire process. Then Five whole days after the fact a press release is issued that claims OL set a new world record the previous week, and that that their claim is based on their own on-board GPS and is certified by the boat's co-pilot/throttle-man - and the public is suppose to swallow this? p.s, I assume that the co-pilot was operating the throttles as is customary in such high-speed runs. |
Couldn't care less who the record holder is by some arbitrary set of rules, but which one is faster.
Don't give a damn about canopy, no canopy, engine sizes blah, blah, ad nauseum, but just what boat is faster. Rules are for whiners. They use them like a crutch for excuses. Which boat is faster? |

i just bought a new fountain before all this took place. I helped a freind build a mustang and we ran some low 5 sec. pass is the eight. But run what you brung and hope you brung enough is what it is all about. If you fit in the class of v bottoms then all should be allowed to try it, but line them up like a drag race and go down the ladder the boat at the end of the day is the overall best performing boat. Just my .02 cents

APACHE...THE REAL KILO RUNNER!:D :D :D :D
|
This debate would not be going on right now if Reggie upheld an agreement with Mike that he would be invited to the next Kilo. However, the boat does go that fast, it is a production boat that you can purchase, and it is Still the Worlds Fastest V-Hull.
I am not a math major, but 156 and 161.2 do not even look close to me. |
RECORD HOLDER
It's really BAJABOB 38 With Stevie Wonder reading the GPS.:D :D :D
|
An agreement that no one has first hand knowledge of... An agreement that would make little sense - given OL did it's run on the 6th but kept it quite.
Neither wanted to "line up" and run... It's all about who is the fastest in Miami. Cloak and dagger stuff... Marketing. They are both great builders of great boats. Reggie's line of poop seems more believable to me though... Guy with a gps??? Hmmm.... and your speed numbers are wrong... |
I think the bottom line is this... Do you guys think Billy Frenz and Mike Fiore are honorable and truthful
Men? This would be best answered by someone that knows these gentlemen. |
FOR IMPULSIVE I AGREE BUT KEEP IN MIND REGGIES WAS NOT A KILO EITHER IT WAS A RECORDED SPEED AND FOR MM WALTERS I THINK THESE GUYS ARE BOTH HONERABLE, AND MEN OF THERE WORD NO BULL****. AS I THINK YOU PROBLY ARE BUT I THINK YOUR JUST TALKING OUT LOUD AND DIDNT REALY WANT TO TYPE THAT! THEY ARE CLASS ACTS!
|
You still only have one side of the conversation without what Fountain heard/thought/said.
Honest and truthful men disagree. Communication - who said what and when is the subject of debate in most every aspect of this planet. Reality - We will never know what they discussed. That leaves the facts as they become available. Or what some of us want them to be. We can't even agree on what makes a kilo run a record run. This sport is full of these kinds of issues as there is no one sanctioning body. The governing bodies of this sport are one step ahead of boxing. What we are ultimetly left with is two amazingly fast boats from two companies that are generating even more interest in the sport we all love. Hats of to Fountain and OL. |
I'm amazed the poll is this tight. I really thought it would be a 3:1 ratio since there are far more Fountain owners on the board than OL owners.
Gotta tell you though... this petty bickering is getting old. Both camps ran hard and fast. I suspect this battle has only started as the best (or worst) is yet to come. Congrats again to both companies on stellar achievements. |
I think Fountain owners have shown that they are by in large - objective. No surprise to me....
I agree with the bickering...... Again - Hats of to Fountain and OL..... |
