I thot that $149,000 price for the package was LAST years cost. Is it the same this year? What would a comparable price be for a new 1000 hp motor, drive, trans, gimble, steering and limited warrantee? And who offers one in the US with service? Is there a better game in town?

That's an absolutely ridiculous price to pay for a piston engine.
For that kind of money, get a turbine. It will only last about 30-40 times longer between rebuilds, and the fuel burn in gph will be about the same.
The maintenance schedule on those high HP recips would drive me insane.

Where do the engines idle at?
I called the Mercury Racing Division to learn more about the engines, and did not receive a call back!?!?!?! One would think that they would be on the phone real fast, if they had an interested person.
Why did the 1050's fail? How are these different (other that 25 hp more)?

Actually this motor runs extremely sweet, shifts well, idles great and I don't care who built it, when your cranking that much HP, service is required in the early stages. Can we all remember the 900SC?
When configuring price you have to look at the fact it comes as a complete PACKAGE with a brand new #6. Once you start adding up TIC it isn't "that" much more...suppose that is why they included the free rebuild. Comes down to a matter of choice, when you play at this level nothing is inexpensive.

I was looking for information, not pricing. Either way, they should have the information on their website, or make themselves available to answer questions on any product.
Since there is a contact person and number, I assumed they would call back. Am I wrong Cucamunga???

boomer, you're right, if they give names and numbers, they should respond. In fact, years (and years) ago, I too delt directly with Merc Racing. However, they never discussed price, that was up to the OEM or dealer...
