Exactly what I did 2 years ago after spending a winter in Mich. I had a job in 3 days and 2 of those days were spent at the boat races in St Pete. I love it here and when all the snobirds go home the traffic is zero.

I'm in the same boat. My close friends in Punta Gorda are keeping their 2nd bedroom for me. They say I'll love it there, and it's just a matter of time before I find my balls and move down.
Being a firefighter sounds nice. The pay is low but there's plenty of time off for a 2nd job and boating
