John (Super Hawaii 40) just made one himself on a sewing machine at home using material gotten from Sunbrella i believe. He psoke with a local canvas maker to get the gouge on measurements and snaps. He just recently tried it out and it turned out well...

I make covers in Michigan and I would recommend using Sunbrella fabric. Because it has little canvas fade and is mildew resistant. Not to mention it is fully breathable. Anything else just email or call my shop.

I just called a local guy and he gave me a rough estimate of $1100    I emailed him some pics and he's going to call me back tommorrow with a price. Seems high to me!!

Craig,
That seems really high. I'm going to get a full cover done for the 28, and I'm getting estimates of $700 for Aqualon and $800 for sunbrella. Anybody recommend one over the other??

Where are you getting those prices from?

canvas price

That price seems high to me too. I would go with sunbrella over aqualon. SUnbrella has been around for a long time and has a 5 year warranty. Aqualon may have a warranty, I can't remember. I like the fact that sunbrella breathes so your boat doesn't get mildewed. I just did a cover for a 38' Donzi ZX and charged 800.00 for a cockpit. You should shop around. Hope this helps. BIll

The quote that I posted came from ABC covers in Grove. I received a similar quote from Hays's Canvas in Dewey, OK. Granted I haven't seen eithers work yet, but they both had Aqualon and Sunbrella available. The Sunbrella is about $3 / foot higher then the Aqualon. I haven't decided which one to go with, but it sounds like the aqualon is more durable.

Craig,

Craftsman Upholstery is around the corner from my work in Fairfax. Give Eric a call- 703-278-8550. He has done some work on my hot rod with my satisfaction, but nothing on my boat (yet). I see boats in his shop all the time getting interiors redone and covers made. They also recover all the seats in our company trucks.
