Looking For Work In Florida

I am relocating to Florida in the next 30 - 60- days.
Am looking for work in "Outside Sales" in the central/southern region.
We are looking at Ft.Myers to St.Pete and anywhere between or across to other side of state.
I have 17 yrs experience in this trade and have a resume for anyone that may know of something.
We are done spending 5 months a year in Ohio watching everything turn gray and die!!
We have been going down 3 or 4 times a year for the last 3 yrs and each time it gets harder to come back!
We are moving to the sunny state of Fla. to be able to burn gas and break parts 12 months a year :eureka:
Appreciate any help/suggestions guys.
I am dead serious and ready. No house to sell, no kids to move, no lease to break.
Just me and the Mrs., a dog and two boats.
Call me anytime @ 614-866-8596, fax 614-866-8614 or e-mail me at [email protected]
Please help get me the hell out of this state!
Gary

ST31 02-23-2004 03:42 PM

Good luck to you. I may follow you in the future.

thedonz 02-23-2004 04:02 PM

congrats Gary,

just make sure you look behind and the cold stuff isn't following you here:D

Twin O/B Sonic 02-23-2004 04:20 PM

Thanx guys!

Yeah, we have a bunch of boating friends down there and they all say the same thing. Anndddd----
they only allow so many "Yankee's" across the border per year and we need a sponsor :0
Just too damn nice in that state (for boating) to not live there!
Plus broken motors are so cheap down there. Since I run O/B's I can get a dumpster full of brooken ones and have enough good parts left to keep my junk running for at least a season or two:p
Course my buddy in Miami teels me that he has to budget his boating time so he does'nt burn more gas than he can afford!!
I can't even comprehend that!!

See my ad in the classifieds under employment.
Give me a call if you think you'd like to offer people the finest boat lift for their prized posession...:D

Position will be in the Ft.Laud/Miami area though...

Just did a lift for this guy...;)

Gary

And Closer to the keys!!!!!!

Twin O/B Sonic 02-24-2004 03:44 PM

Yep

our routine here in Ohio has been (for ever) to have the boat/trailer locked and loaded Thursday night so as soon as we can haul ass Friday, we are mobile!
The we drive 2 1/2 freagin hours to Lake Erie. EVERY WEEKEND!!
You get used to it after a while but if you "really have fun" for the weekend then the ride home Sunday night sucks bad!!
So now I'm hooked on looking at the Fla map and figuring out how far we can get in any direction in 2 1/2 hrs;)
I figure if we're in the Ft.Myers area we can be on the Atlantic coast in that amount of time.
Or getting close to hitting the first Key (Marathon?) heading south with the trailer or bee there by boat!!
We have been crossing Lake erie about every other weekend. That's about 45 miles of open water.
With another 15 that will get our asses from Lauderdale to the Bahama's:D
Just picked up a book the other day that was something like "Romantic get aways in Fla".
(to finish my sell job on the Mrs. and It worked)
It lists a bunch of the beaches around the state that are not very well known by anyone but the locals.
I plan on invading every one of them :)
Probably can't tell I'm geeked about this but I am:p
YANKEE HOH!

Apparently the Tampa PD needs some help.

YANKEE HOH!

Fort Myers to Lauderdale is right around 2 hours towing the boat, Less without.

Marathon is not the first key, Largo pretty much is, but thats OK, Islamorada(Tiki Bar) is pretty much next, then a bunch of little ones, then Marathon. You will be pretty much 2 1/2 hours to Largo, 3 1/2 to Marathon, and 4 1/2 to Key West, give or take depending on Traffic, and how fast you tow across alligato alley.

Yeah, it is only 15 miles more to the Bahamas, but dont forget about the Gulfstream you have to cross, it can kick up pretty good, and be unpredictable(good luck gettin home on Sunday). And when you get there, BEND OVER!!!!! $300 just to legally enter the country by boat!!!!

http://www.boycottbahamas.com/

The keys are free to enter, hotels are relatively inexpensive, Food is Awesome, and Largo is only a little over an hour from Lauderdale if you go at low traffic time!!!!

Chevelle

Thanks for the info.
Yeah, hell $150. is too much for my blood. That's half a rebuild on one motor;)
I understand the Gulfstream as well. I think I read 3 MPH heading straight north!!
Yikes!
But that is one reason I have both motors apart right now and doing some improvements.
It won't plane on one motor as is and will only do about 7 MPH (gps:D ) before the prop starts to break loose from the motors being too high.
I am installing huydraulic jack plates so I can bury them to make it plane (get home) on one motor.
I am actually starting to think it might be fun to trailer to one of the firtst Keys and dump the boat and head South.
Last time I did Alligator Ali we were only pulling a 13' Whaler but I still think we made it in an hour 45??
Way too fast but the trailer did'nt break until we got there so what are you gonna do?
Am really looking for to playing in the ocean again. (towed to the outter banx once)
Lake Eries waves are as big as the oceans but they're ten freagin feet apart!!
We'll have to hook up once we get down there.
We will be bringing both boats with us too. The little one for the rivers, inland water etc.
The Sonic for the i.c., Gulf and Ocean. Would be good to have some one to follow through the shallow stuff.

rbtnt 02-24-2004 11:59 PM

Gary,

Were you on the Muskingum River one weekend 4 - 5 years ago?

Twin O/B Sonic 02-25-2004 06:07 AM

yes

have a buddy with a house there
guessing you're one of the Eliminators that he wanted me to mess with:eek:
Lucky for me none of your stuff was running;)

Definitely gotta hook up when you get here.

I need to save this post,

FINALLY, someone admits Eries waves are not the same as the ocean!!!!!!

You should talk to Tim, he is a nice guy, does good business, and loves to go boating. If I wasnt workin inside in the A/C, I would be installing for him. The Gators are not that bad.

Ahhh, its only a toe, thats why god gave us 10!!!

Seriously, I am sure they see a few while installing in the Backwaters, But I have been here for 19 months, 13 of them living along the Hillsboro Canal, way West, 2 miles from Loxahatchee park in the Everglades, and have not seen 1 gator outside of the Glades. I am sure they are there, but not as common as you would think.

PS, Just thought I would let you northerners know, it just started downpouring, first rain we have had in WEEKS!!!!!

Iggy 02-25-2004 12:03 PM

rchevelle71, it started raining here before lunch yesterday, with thunder, and hasn't stopped yet. We had a tornado watch yesterday from 10am to 4pm and a couple severe thunder storm warnings tossed in too. Even had a little bit of hail.
We need the rain and it sure beats having snow.

Seen that on the News, looks like you guys are gettin hammered, passed right over us, but supposed to come south tonight, looks like it arrived early. We have the rainy season down here, next month it should start raining for weeks at a time!!!!!

RollWithIt 02-25-2004 12:16 PM

Rain,,, man, I awoke to snow yesterday morning. I cant wait to get back to Florida.

East Coast B 02-25-2004 01:26 PM

It all sounds great.... I've had the same thoughts myself... everyday!!!! Cold weather just sucks!!! Just have to get use to that salt water..... I've only had my current boat in the salt a few times, after each time we bring it straight back to the lake... what a feeling that fresh water brings!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Twin O/B Sonic 02-25-2004 02:15 PM

Ain't Skeered!

Friend of mine down there put it best.
He said, "if your life does'nt revolve around being outside and in the sun, or in the water you're in the wrong state".
One of the first Floidians to actually tell me the truth ;)
You guys all say, it's not that hot, it's not that humid, there's not that many bugs, athere's no gators, theres no sharks, theres no illegals etc, etc, etc.
I say BULL ****!!
Sure their is. But so what?? We don't have any of that in Ohio but I'm still moving:D
My same buddy tells me he puts up with all of that **** all the time but guess what??
If at 2:00 on a Wednesday he decides to go to the Keys (by boat), he can be there in a couple of hours.
Most of us spend all year planning and dreaming of a trip like that.
As far as gators, we've already seen several. When we run with the guys with the little boats down there we end up in what they call the "ditch's". We've seen em there.
For sharks we were down last Winter and did a dive off of Jupiter and Donna and I got seprated from the rest of our group due to very strong current and drfited over a school of probably 30 or 40 of them!!
They watched us float over as we hyperventilated  and they never moved!!
We told the dive master who at first did'nt believe us and then said they were probably breeding and would'nt bother anyone.
So we're on the plane headed home the next day when a guy in the next seat over tells us there was shark attack on the beach right where we were at.
But guess what?? I'll put up with all that to live in freagin Utopia 12 months a year!!
On the Erie vs Ocean comment, I've done both and they ain't even close. I can run my 24' boat 70 MPH in 4 footers in the ocean cause they're 50 yards apart.
I can barely stay on plane in 4's at Erie because you're always in at least one no matter what.
If you can take them anyway but head on they're not so bad. But head on sucks bad!!
We get down there I'll tell you some Erie stories about water/weasther that we lived through that you won't believe.
Gary

Stop it, you're killin me!

Trying to plan/wait for our next re-con mission and it's killing me!!
A couple of years ago we got a condo on Ft.Myers beach w/a dock in the back yard but no boat. THAT SUCKED!!
Next time down, I bought a 13' Whaler over the internet and picked it up on the way!
Bought it on east coast, and went from there to the condo on west coast.
We had more fun in that little booger!!
Was fun being in a boat that would float in a heavy dew (less on plane;) ) , bullet proof with zero maintenance!
We were exploring mangroves at 30 MPH that you could see the bottom the whole way and could see it was too shallow to stop cause you could'nt get back on plane:eek:
We'd run until we saw a "hole" then stop for a cold beverage then pop it back on plane before we got back into shallow water again!! Was a freagin hoot!!
We ran that thing about 10 miles S. of the beach (had to buy 2 charts), N. to and around Sanibelle and Captiva(Gulf side then back through the i.c.).
Was way cool the day we loaded it up to head for home. Wew were in the bays behind the condo heading for the trailer when we saw a school of doplhin playing beside the boat.
We stopped and watched for probably 10 mins and had a second scholl there too. Got some great shots and both agreed that if we had to leave, that was the perfect ending!!
ON the bugs, the funniest thing we herard was the big black bugs that were every where were called "Palmento" bugs.
We might be back woods but in Ohio they're called "Cock Roaches":p
The little Lizards are pretty cool too.
