Again,, I don't think the people criticizing me have read the entire thread,, I love OSO and appreciate whole heartedly Jeff and Steve and their efforts,,, but I also realize that 99% this site is about the forums and us members,, it's US who make it so great,,, Steve says over and over if the advertisers would step up there might not be ANY membership fee,,, well, I stated there are hundreds of people making money off this site and its members, who need to step up to the plate or stop peddling their crap with their pm's and e-mails...

I don't want anything for FREE,, and pay my own way,, but the people that are making money off of us aren't... and when push comes to shove,, their taking the money out of our pockets.. props to the boat manufacturers and small business men who have " stepped up " !!

Exactly the porn alone is worth the 50 bucks.

I guess, what I think is that, for the membeship fees to go from 20 to 50 bucks in one year, the advertisers must not be doing their job to support the site. I have no idea what it costs to advertise on OSO, but it must not be enough. There are hundreds of people making money off OSO, selling their stereo's, boats, plasma tv's, and a slew of other things that don't pay a penny to advertise on here, I see it day in and day out.. I wonder how many off brand boats have been sold because of OSO, boats I NEVER would have EVER heard of. Maybe when possible, we should ONLY buy from paying advertisers of the site, if these other guys on the site profiting from us want our business,, they should pay for it.. The 50 bucks you save could be your own..
Chris, please re-read your post very carefully as I think you understand what others do not see. Selling between yourselves and not buying from the advertisers. Therefore, fees.

15,000 multiplied by $50= 750,000 I must be dreaming cause I only wish that membership brought in that kind of money.

If you boycotted buying products that don't advertise than there would be no membership fees needed. But, one person asks a question and then another answers and sales are made by non-advertisers, So who pays then? Not me anymore.

Miami party costs $30 per person and each member could bring a guest. The party alone costs more than a annual membership.

Sorry but not making millions of the site, not even 10's of thousands. No one works for free. If the site dies because of fees than so be it but I have watched the statisctics and I doubt it.

You hit the nail on the head again on that one!! Certain people want to reap the benefits without paying. You all buy because it is a deal, so you pay for the info so to speak or boycott those products and services. Paying Advertisers put their neck out to have their business displayed. Why do you think Coke continues to advertise. Everyone knows they are there.

Steve, thanks for your reply,, I'm sick of the pm's and e-mails from legit businesses trying to sell me stuff,, who don't advertise..

You only need to tell me once that if people would step up and pay their advertising fee's that membership fee's could almost go away, these people are taking the money out of my pocket as well as yours.. They are the ones who should PAY UP or GO AWAY !!..

Yes Chris, you got it. That is exactly why the BB Classifieds was eliminated. Abused by people flying in under the radar even after multiple warnings. Marine businesses selling 10's of thousands of dollars of parts for $49 a year.
