You could say that this country was built on Protestant/Christian principals, and we now have a Catholic (John Kerry) running for president. The truth is: this counrty was founded by God fearing men. However, the God of Abraham is the God of the Christian and the Jews and the Muslims. We all worship the same God. |

d-hlaw, Thanks for stating the Federalist Papers! Sad thing, but their are a whole lot of Americans that have never heard of them before.
If you folks want to censor what comes into your houses please turn the F'n station don't pull the plug on the show. I listen to HS some mornings, I think he's a moron and that's why I like his show. It is after all, COMEDY!!! Is it causing you pain for ME to listen? If it is, well please go find a therapist. |

roby, you read the Federalist Papers in GRADE school?!?!? Little heavy for a seven year old isn't it? I don't know when or where you went to school but I never knew about them 'till much later. You better take a good long look outside..... they're definitely NOT teaching the proper way to wear a condom.

Grade school where I come from is K thru 12. I was 16 when we studied them... I think :D

In New England the great majority of the people were Congregationalists The Constitution: AMENDMENT I (1791) Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press... "...one nation, under God, indivisible..." The original version of the Pledge did not have "under God" in it. The U.S. Congress passed a law adding those two words in 1953. |
Great instant history lesson, DK. It is almost as if the refrain "Christian Principals" describes a way of leading ones life. We have the freedom to elect how to live our lives, due in large part to the foresight of our founding fathers. It was the clear intent of these men of reason to clearly and unequivocally separate matters of government from matters of religion. To suggest that our founding fathers were motivated by certain "principals" is accurate; however, they are not the principals you allude to Just Say N2O. I am not a Christian and I do not play one on TV. If you meant to infer that our founding fathers did not intend to prevent the regulation of off color comedy, pornography and the like, I firmly disagree with you. I doubt that these exact issues were in their minds when they wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, but taboo issues of their day were kept in mind and were dealt with accordingly. Instead of having to contemplate the actions of a radio personality broadcasting his message across the country, the founding fathers had to contemplate a person speaking their mind in the town square and being able to do so withour fear of retribution, imprisonment, or some other form of opression. Times have clearly changed but it always amazes me how a document created several hundred years ago still makes perfect sense today.
