OT: Just received a new assessment...

I just received our new assessment. Property taxes went up 50%!

Shane,
That's kinda what happened to my grandparents when they were living on Lake Ontario. Their taxes just kept climbing every year and eventually they were taxed out of their home!!

Dam rising housing prices at work....NOT. Dam money grubbing government slugs reaching into our pockets a little deeper every year so they can invent new ways to waste money. Why you say? Because they can always get more with just another "little" increase. DAM THEM ALL I SAY DAM THEM TO HELL!!!!!

GeeWhiz, can you tell I got hit with big increases on my house and my business property?

If the housing market plummets, I wonder if they will re-adjust the assessments?

We're going to get ours this summer and I'm expecting the same to happen to us only because waterfront prop in NJ has outpaced the rest of the market. All we need is one good storm to knock the values back down. Sure could use another Noreaster of 92. If we get a 30% increase I'll pay more in prop taxes than I spend on my mortgage and boat gas.
