Forget about a handheld, Garmin is coming out with a color screen small unit that will accept chips for only $679.00, you cant beat that.

176C is an awesome, feature-packed handheld. It's a mini fully functioning chart plotter.

i have a garmin hand held.. it's kind of nice.. drop it int eh truck or move it back onto the boat.. give it to poeple when they come into town so they don't get lost.. and the best part is when i'm testing boats i can just drop it into a cup holder in the boat and get top speed.. so if are cool to have around.. also can just sit in my florida room and polt out trips off the map...

There is a new 276C that is full color and is coming out this spring. I think this will be the top of the list now.
But the older versions may be on sale.

I have the GPSIII+ that Im very happy with. Use it on the boat, bike and mounted it on the snowmobile this past winter.
The upgraded version of the GPSIII+ is the GPSV
Im going to buy another and will also look at the 176C or if the 276C comes out that Stormrider mentioned.

the thing that kills me about gps's is people will go out and spend 2k on a 2010c and run the cannels or the lake they live on... now offshore or running poker runs in unknow waters.. a must have

I like a larger display like the 182...my hand held is hard to read at speed.....
