Yes. The hull finally cracked from the rub-rail to the keel. McManus took it back and made it the plug for his 42.
He told me that I needed a race-boat if I was going to "abuse" it like I did, so I bought one.

ApacheCarl,
So, what's the main reason for the loss of "action" on Lake MI when it comes to OS boating? I know you guys kinda lost interest in putting some things on, but what do you attribute that to, in your opp?
So, does the "real" apache have a site?
Mark

Hiya Mark,
In my opinion, there are a couple of reasons offshore boating is down in Lake Michigan(at least on this side).
First, alot of people in the late 90's started to get out of boating for numerous reasons: they joined golf clubs, they got sick of boating in Michigan with its really short season yada yada yada, the list goes on
We started to see this after 99 or so. Alot of people sold there boats and didn't replace them.
Second, the economy has, for the lack of a better term, just sucked for the last 5 years or so. Once the stock market bubble burst there was alot less cash floating around to spend on luxury items. Now some would argue that an offshore boat is a necessity
but we all know that is not the case in every instance. Lets face it, these boats have gotten super expensive and a soft economy didn't help matters.
Hopefully it will pick up again in the near future
Take Care
Carl
P.S. opps I almost forgot, The Real Apache will have a website up very soon. I think Mark McManus never had one before because word of mouth(references) pretty much kept him busy. He is moderator on the Apache forum now and is looking forward to answering any questions people may have. The new Apache he is building is going to be really cool and constructed Apache tough
Just like all the others he built in 80's, 90's and 00's.
