The best way to get started in offshore racing is to lease a one design boat from Chris Reindl for one or all of the races. It saves you the headache and hassle of owning and maintaining the boat and the boats are a blast to race. Give Chris a call at 513.706.3199 or call Josh at 216.233.8474. There is also some great info about the reindl one design class on www.H2Operformance.com

have you thought about the One Design class? i started about a year or so ago and it is one of the best ways to safely get into racing in a controled environment. the boats are fast and very stable. (rougher the water the better :D ) these things are an absolute blast to drive. Chris Reindl handles all the boats/registration/transportation/etc.... you can contact him at

Lookin to buy tho ... we want to race and have fun in the sun .... we might clear 40 thou or so when the old house has sold ... can we buy a used One Design? Found none in boattrader ... |
If you live in NY you might want to run with OPA. It's a grass roots series that will keep you close to home and the costs down. I know Chris has been wanting to run a bat boat at OPA races for some time now.
OPA 2004 Schedule: Brick,NJ - June 26,27 Atlantic City,NJ - July 17,18 Pt. Pleasant Beach, NJ - Aug. 12,13 L.I. / CONN. Area - Aug. 28,29 Cambridge, MD - Sept. 25,26 Delaware River Area - Oct. 9,10 Key West with SBI - Nov 14-21 See www.thejerseyboyz.com for more details. Make sure to join the mailing list so you get all the updates. |
Thanks for the invite ... we'll see the famous boyz in Atlantuc City fer sure ... unless we'll already have moved ...

Give me a call later in the spring when glassdave has one siting in my dock.. $40k should not be a issue but you will have to paint it ASAP and it might not have a title.. oh yea.. must be paid for in CASH:D :D ;) ;) really though call chris reindl, he might have a lead or even a boat for you.. I can tell you first hand these things are freakin awesome |
The Bat boat is excellent way to go .

Wish there was a SIO class ,outboards are an expensive hobby it costs me more to keep a 50hp ob running per year than my hp500.....

How about OPA? What is first step after the boat? this is my backyard. What should I join first, what requirements, speed class for 25' single I/O.I am so close to completion I can go this season. All help appreciated!
|
Donzilla,
Contact either Smitty's Marine or Kurts Marine for details on joining OPA. Most likely you would run in P5, a speed bracketed class up to 70 mph. This class now has a few 24 Panteras, four or five 28 Panteras, a couple of 24 Sunsations, a couple of 24 Carreras and others.....What is your boat? It looks like a 26 Corsa? What power do you have? Come on out and play!! |
Donzilla, call OPA at 732 477 7400 to get a rule book and also to get a number for your boat. No doubt, you'll run in P5.
Also, join the mailing list at www.thejerseyboyz.com to get all future updates and information. |
RonP, Are the rule books printed?
I have SOB guys contacting me wanting one.... |
I'm sure OPA has some sort of rule book available. Contact Kurt to see what he has.
|
That is where I have been sending these guys, but they still haven't been able to get a hold of them.. Shall try again....

Oh Yeah! thanksBob I will call smitty monday.
Thanks, JIm |
Nice improvement Jim!
It was well worth now wasn't it...:D |
This is actually getting close to reaility! We will be ready for june. A lot of info help came this weekend and again thanks to all we still need to aquire a rule book to fine tune the boat as far as equipment, non skid, grab rails,
saftey stuff,etc. Calling smitty's tommorrow. JIm |
Jim, most of the safety stuff is as simple as padding any sharp edges. However the one safety item that you must have are kill switches for both riding crew members. Theses need to be the pull off cap type that connect to your life vests.
Otherwise, some good helmets and life jacket are what you need most. You can read the SBI or APBA rule book regarding safety issues. OPA is basically the same as theirs. |
Sweet ride Donzilla.....I look foward to meeting you...welcome to the addiction.
|
Donzilla, Boat loks great!! Nice work:cool:

Ron P,
Do the life jackets have to be orange lifeline? I have lifeline pokerrun jackets. Got the padding covered> how about non skid on the decks how much required? and the saftey check list from opa says transom grab rail? Also got the cap type cut offs. Pretty much there. Got halon on the way and just need a vhf. Qball and R addiction Thanks for the compliment! I look foward to meeting everyone soon. Thanks again, JIm There is a peak at my new353 in the back ground |
Jim, I don't have all the details. Please call Kurt at 732 477 7400 and he'll have ALL the answers.
Are you on the OPA mailing list? If not, join it at www.njoffshore.com so you get all the updates. |
That boat looks like it would fit in Outlaw "A" class APBA or GLOPRA (if they decide to make it a class)
|
Yes I put a call into smitty today but missed him and will call Kurt tommorrow. Yes I am on the mailing list as of this past weekend.
JIm |
Got to speak to eddie form Smitty's Going to meet saturday and get some more info. Looks like I am definetly in for this season! Finishing details this week and am ready to start running the boat!
JIm |
Jim, once you've registered with OPA, send me some photos of you and the boat and I'll add you to the www.thejerseyboyz.com web site.
