And don't forget possibly ruin its reputation for a great ride. I would be suprised to see that happen. No offense.

And the water conditions, and the load in the boat, and the power package, and the props, and the water (salt/fresh), and...

Damn, too many variables - best to stick with the marketing dept pictures, I think.

Gary,
I'll tell you the same thing I told LS Jr. in another thread;

I think that gentlemen is fishing with a long pole and serious lack of bait. If he has any legitimacy he his a serious Fountain chill, no problem with that I preach for my brand also and if he's legit more power to him they are good boats.
But until he sticks his neck out instead of talking to himself I would not take him to seriously. Let him show his colors as to where he is, what he runs and anyone here that knows him or of him then maybe he will be worth talking with.
It's hard to play tennis by yourself.

Tinkerer 03-21-2004 10:15 PM

GEE YOU don't think boat speed had anything to do with the difference in the pictures.

mcollinstn 03-21-2004 10:21 PM

Warpaint, your hull sucks cause it doesn't have aeration, and we have all learned from pictures that if you don't have aeration then you are overpriced and a dog.

LPA, you amuse me.
You think you have arrived at some monumental conclusion about hull design by comparing the "spray pattern" from:

A shot of a lightweight race hull going around 100-110mph.

Versus a Formula running 40mph in a brochure shot?

I'm laughing, and I regret to admit that I'm laughing AT YOU, not with you. Sorry, but I just can't stop.

Buddy, REALLY, you are going just a tad overboard on your observations. No saying it's a bad thing to analyze things - not at all. And it is apparent that you are indeed doing your level best to assemble lots of "raw data". But you don't have enough ammunition to conclude anything yet. Stay calm, the answers will come...

this is a suck hull. see, the boat is touching the water...

dockrocker 03-21-2004 10:48 PM

I guess from what I've learned here, all single step hulls are designed wrong - no second step to ride on the aeration.

Bet Active Thunder is gonna be pissed at that naval architect, Harry Schoell, since he designed the hull. And pity poor, ignorant Mike Fiore over at Outer Limits - all these years his 37' has been wrong and he didn't even know it!

Thank God for the internet!!

So tell me what this hull is doing !?!?!?!?:D

dockrocker 03-22-2004 11:06 AM

Obviously that hull is completely inefficient and therefore slow as molasses in January. Judging by the X and Z coordinates in the geometry of the spray pattern, combined with the constant rate of decay of the dilithium crystals in a fresh water environment, multiplied by the coeffiecient of drag from the yellow paint, shows unequivically that the hull is nothing but a 2nd rate knock off of an old resin bucket.

Ain't science grand? ;) :D

SS930 03-22-2004 11:07 AM

You guys are HARSH!

dockrocker 03-22-2004 11:10 AM

Nah, I put a ;) and a :D for good measure? What else do you want, ya damn ingrate... :D :D

Besides, we've been pretty easy so far - I mean, no one has brought up X dimension, pad or no pad, dimensions of the pad if present, location, size and length of strakes, transom notches, extension boxes, and a whole range of other variables that contribute to how a particular hull interacts with a variable surface like water.

Photoshop adds 32.657 miles per hour. So buy your boat from a really good geek

Panther 03-22-2004 04:20 PM

This all made me think..... uh ohhhhh

You guys ever ride on a glass bottom boat? Now wouldn't it be cool to "sayyy" watch the the water pass by under a stepped an non stepped bottom boat and see what the difference is.

I was on a glass bottom boat on vacation once. Once we got up on plane you could see the air bubbles every now and then pass under the boat.

Maybe outerlimits could do this, hey they are already making translucent engine hatches.
