Alaskan reserves are exactly that- reserved.
For the Japanese.
That's where all of it goes right now, anyway.

There is hardly enough in Alaska to make a difference anyway. As unfortunate as it is, we are dependent on foreign oil.:(

We need to take oil from Irac, drill in Alaska and drill in the Gulf, that will scare the hell out of opec. The left wing wacks are against anything that will strenghthen our economy and make people less dependent on govt.
I bet John Kerry is secretly praying for another terrorist attack, gas prices at 4-5 bucks a gallon, unemployment to increase 50% and a huge depression.

To my knowledge, we don't want the Alaska oil for ourselves. It is very young oil and therefore high in sulfur and low overall quality. Too expensive to refine into good quality product.

We want the best oil, from the floor of the sea of china north of Brunei. It is the oldest oil and needs the least refining. Unfortunately, China feels that they own all of the sea of china. This may be our next major conflict.
