The gas prices have been consistantly high for the past 3 years. They have never come close to the $1.00 per gallon prices we used to see every now and then. You would think this petroleum rich president and family would help lower prices. I guess it better for them to keep prices comfortly high to make good money but not to high to piss off the consumers.

NO! it's the left wing liberals that are against our being self sufficient by drilling our own oil in Alaska, instead of remaining at the mercy of those Saudi crude towelheads!  :hothead:

Gasoline Pump Prices Hit All-Time High

Never use your own resources when it is cheaper to use up all of the other guys first. Besides, gas prices are set by politics and what the public will stand for, do you really think it costs more to make/ship gasoline to Europe where prices are at least twice as high? That is where their governments decided prices should be (think government income/tax base).

CAP071 03-23-2004 12:14 PM

How is it that we the US of friggin A . Invade iraq and are paying more for gas? Why don't we just take iraq's oil and keep all of it just for us.

CigDaze 03-23-2004 12:19 PM

Capo...I'm thinking along the same lines. But alas, that would be far too easy. And could you imagine what our European friends would think? Oh the humanity.

Reckless32 03-23-2004 12:20 PM

I say drill everything we've got and start using it up. In the meantime break the banks of the middle eastern whacko's and other OPEC morons. We must do this before petroleum becomes obsolete and we switch to an alternate source in just a couple of decades...

Either way, if you can't afford to operate it, you can't afford to own it in the first place...Look how cheap those Bayliners operate with thier 4.3's....:p

CAP071 03-23-2004 12:21 PM

it's total BS that's why

BLee 03-23-2004 01:09 PM

Global Oil prices are down slightly from their lofty levels after skyrocketing on concerns over gasoline supplies in the US, strong demand over China's booming economy, and concerns about security of oil facilties after the Madrid bombings on March 11, as well as Israel's assasination of the Hamas leader.

Translation to you guys: There are other factors besides OPEC.

LPA2106 03-23-2004 02:39 PM

Alah forbid if the stuff coming out of the ground wasn't basically free for the taking...location..location..location!!

aaaah, everyone is pissed about the high prices.

powerguy 03-23-2004 02:52 PM

Oil on the world market is traded in US dollars. A weak dollar causes prices in dollars to go up.

They used to have oil, when Chirac was hangin' with Soddaminsane, drinking vintage Bordeaux, nibbling goat cheese and tomato laden bruschettas, all the while surrounded by leacherous teenage nymphets!
Not anymore!.
We could send "The Village People", and they could take it from them!:D :D

Don't we import only 15-20% of middle east oil? Maybe Bush has deal and 2 mo before elections 9/04, he will get gas prices to drop and then we'll all feel better about things. Actually, our gas here is only up .05-.10 from last season.

BillR 03-31-2004 10:09 AM

As of this morning (3/31/04)

OPEC will cut its production target by 4 percent as scheduled, several oil ministers said Wednesday - a move that analysts say could drive crude oil prices higher even as U.S. customers are already facing high gasoline prices.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, which pumps about a third of the world's oil, will reduce its output ceiling by 1 million barrels per day.

Analysts said the decision could boost oil prices to the psychologically important threshold of $40 per barrel.

The big question now is how serious OPEC members will be in complying with its new, lower target. An expected drop in seasonal demand during the April-June quarter and quota-busting by individual members of the group could eventually dampen the effects of the cut, analysts said.

eyezlee 03-31-2004 08:52 PM

DAMNIT! OPEC. So what is the strategy not drilling Alaska. Use everybody else's oil first?
