Ok, I posted in another thread my need for a company name. Other thread This is a company that I'll be building a some boats through. Right now it'll just be a hobby. Maybe it'll become a career. We'll see where the future takes us.

The Mrs and I are torn between two names. They both are good names. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Right now, we don't know which name will be chosen. So, here's the deal. I'm posting a poll to have the board decide which creator deserves the Gold Membership. The results of this poll will also be used as an aid in deciding which name will be chosen as the company name. Remember, no matter what name we choose, the results of this poll will pick the winner of the contest.

I also want some input on a interesting twist of the two names: Tunnel marine Industries Thoughts? I didn't put this into the poll because I wanted the poll to decide which of the two entrants had the better name.

At this time Boat Trader doesn not list either company as being a boat manufacturer. Doesn't mean the names are not taken, but it sure suggests that they both may be valid unclaimed names. :cool:

I did a trademark search on both names... I didn't come up with a match... so I don't think you would have any problems with either..... Good Luck.....:D

One thing to think about,
At this time you are planning on building a tunnel hull but what happens in the future if you decide to go in another direction, maybe a V-hull or some kind of accessory. Would be nice not to lock your company in or have to change your name if you go in a different direction.
Therefore I voted for Wicked Marine Industries.
Just something else to think about.

Time-that is exactly one of the advantages of WMI.

Hp-but how does "Tunnel Concepts" work in a conversation? It's seems to be a bit awkward.

hey cord...just a correction, you actually created Wicked Marine Industries.....if you look back Hi-perf-2000 posted Wild Marine Industries. so you actually should get credit for Wicked Marine Industries.

Not good karma for a business name IMO. Also I think the simpler the spelling/correct spelling, the better for websites.

We liked Cat Tastrophe because it was creative twist on the word. The problem was that catastrophe was a negative word that I wouldn't want to associate with.

I'd like to get some feedback on WMI. How is Wicked Marine Industries better than my original concept of Wicked Boats? Or is it better?

what size are the molds?

between the 2....wicked marine industries and wicked boats. I like Wicked Marine Industries......WMI for short. I think it sounds more professional then wicked boats. Plus I think your allowing yourself room to expand into whatever may come your way with the name Wicked Marine Industries. When I think of anything with the name boats ie: Wicked Boats, I think of just that...boats and nothing else. With a name like Wicked Marine Industries or Tunnel Concepts I think your allowing yourself room for expansion into anything marine related.

Right now I have a 18' cat mold waiting to be picked up. I'm seriously considering a 21' mod-VP mold. Wish I could find it's 23' sister mold too.

I like WMI, because it opens up other selling opportunities. With Tunnel in the name you will only be known as a tunnel business.

What if you want to sell aftermarket parts someday? WMI would be a better name for that, 'cause it's a general name.

This is what was posted though....so with that stated....Cord actually won his own contest haha. so technically I'm the runner up since there were 2 names in the poll right? I was hoping to use that half and match it to get a platinum, thats my 2 cents.

You see, the real problem is that there were a couple of other posts that were similar. I think that's where my confusion came in. I combined a couple together and came up with a new one. Didn't even know I did it until 97 pointed it out. I figured that in all fairness, I'd buy Hp2k a t-shirt for being a runner up. Then, I figured that I'd give 97bh the membership. Why? Well, he had posted several really good names. 2 (or 3?) that made the final cut. That was far more than any other contestant. Does that sound fair?

hey Cord...BTW, what are the plans that you have for the company?

Right now, I'm going to build some boats on a hobby basis. We'll see how that goes and then take it from there. Right now, I need the attorney to get things set up. Then I have to figure out the insurance aspect of it. I've been told that insurance will be insanely expensive. 6 digits for a year. I'm hoping that I can buy a policy per boat and pass the cost right on.
