Where's LPA2106? Hope he wasn't testing his step hull theories. Don't see any bubbles under that one.

I suppose that scenerio is possible. But, like Too Old said, if you're in that position, you're first reaction has to be to back off the loud handles!!

Story is fishy, accident is fishy. Looks clear to me that someones logic level was not up to par at the time.

More times than not, accidents like this are not caused by mechanical failures, they're caused by human failures.

I had a similar experience with my last boat, the first boat I had with tabs. It was a 272 Formula with K-planes that were pretty big for the boat. Well my only experience with tabs was seeing BoatUS catalogs with the bennett switches that would say "Bow up" for the up switch and "Bow down" at the bottom of the rocker. Mine was wired where up raised the tab which makes much more sense. Anyway, there was one or two times in the first couple of weekends where I'd run the tabs the wrong way to "correct" the running attitude and have to just come off plane (with the boat listing heavily) and figure it out. Too much was going on to straighten it out and I was only going 35-40 at the time.

I remember growing up thinking maybe someday MAYBE I might be able to afford and take care of an offshore boat..
Now any A$$hole with credit and No idea of the fun or Dangers of the speed can get one.

This could all have been avoided if they had the kill cords on. It is so simple and this is exactly what they are designed for. I don't care how fast you go or how smooth, you need those on, even if you had a health problem and became incapacitated, you fall, the boat stops...period. A $30 part could have saves literally hundreds of thousands. This is why seat time is so important, you need to know the boat. You know what I did with my Excursion when it was new? It was winter and I went to a closed parking lot and purposely lost control, did donuts and learned its limits and how it would react in a bad situation. I know how to drive, I am 41, but I have never driven this truck and it was different. You need to learn to walk before you run.
