Default Formula 353 FasTec

A friend of mine wants to sell is 353 and we're trying to figure a price to move it. So I look on boattrader and prices are all over the place, 119K to 180K. The boat is a 99 that was splashed in 00 with 502 EFI and Stellings Boxes and labbed props. Any idea what the ball park figure might be for this boat?

Oh yea, no trailer since the boat was stored on a lift.

1999 353 with 502's, boxes, and labbed props
No trailer.
depending on condition and hours (I am guessing between 200-300 hours)
In very clean condition.

Selling price: $90,000 to $95,000

I said selling price, not asking price.
Very nice boats. 353 are underrated as offshore performance boats

Mr Velocity Has he has it up for sale before in boattrader?

With Black 502's it's gonna be hard to sell I would think.

Not to be pretentious, but a 35 fountain is not comperable to a 35 fastech. A 38 fountain is a little closer to it.
Yes, a fountain will run faster with the same power.
But for strength, fit and finish and longevity (Not to mention resale based on percentage of new cost vs. actual selling cost). the Fastech is closer to a 38 Fountain.

$90-95 is the number to sell at (In very good condition). Dont hold out for more, because you will hold out through 04 and let the value drop another $15K by next season.
Good luck with the sale, at the right price, that is a great boat!

Not to be a smart azz. But how is there a "Brand New Fountain 1999"?
Isnt it 2004?
That would be a 5 year old boat that has never been titled, not a brand new 1999.

I saw a demo 2003 353 with HP 500's going for 169k and down the road saw a nice used 2001 with 500's going for 112k....150 hrs...nice boat...probably under rated...not sure I would compare it to a 38' Fountain....but a 69k "bath" in 2 yrs is a lot...40% depreciation...if they are made so well...why is Fountain holding resale better?...probably the Formula incentives/rebates/0% financing...who knows...surprises me...plus with the Fever and Executioners going for 150k new...it all takes it toll on resale in the market. Plus demand is low now they say for these boats...still no dealers in Michigan...talked to a few who have been wined and dined to do "floor plan" on perf boats and none would or could....

Too many incentives for new boats really shakes the bottom out of selling a used boat...and add-ons sometimes are a pandora's box in the sales deal...

Was this boat originally built w/black motors and boxes? That's not a combo I've ever heard of from Formula. 95K clean as new w/ quality trailer should generate some interest. I bought a new 2002, never wet, loaded 496HO/BravoX boat on a Eagle premier trailer for $125K after 14K rebate last Aug. This boat has 5 yrs. of warranty. I, at the time could not justify buying the used boat...I think you see why, and why the three yr. older, used '99 has to be priced under a 100K definitely. The 353 has a foot+ more running surface than the 35 Reggie. Headroom isn't fantastic...but the cabin is definitely more accessable with larger sleeping areas than the fountain. The feeling of size aboard the 353 washes out the speed of the Fountain with the same power. These boats, power for power and $ in options, always seem to be priced and traded for similar $. RPM

Slow is relative only to buy in dollars, fuel economy, insurance rates, and how everybody's impression of an acceptable top speed in a perf boat has become skewed. For 35K less than 500 EFI's I'll suffer w/ 72MPH instead of 77MPH.
