Marathon Turnout?
 

Hoping for good turnout for Marathon race on May 15&16. Buying tickets and hotel for/in Key West tomorrow. Hope not to be disappointed!! But as some say "You don't have to have a race to enjoy the Keys"
There sure is a shortage of rooms in K.W. that wekend.

Drive 8 Miles south and pitch a tent on Ohio Key;) thats what I do every December;)

You ask the hotels "what is going on/why no rooms?" and they do not know..they say they check daily calenders and no big events..said it's as busy as if in the middle of winter.

There is a race there, try getting a room for the Worlds in Key West, where there are many more hotels. We will see you there, even though we may be sleeping in the motorhome.

May stay as Islamorada and commute.

Orlando gang is heading down, 7 boats will be in the water, spectator of course. Hope there is a good turnout, last year was a blast.

Where in Islamorada Greg, We are unsure where we are staying yet, and have never stayed on Islamorada.

Try the Kingsail Resort, clean and cheap.

Stayed at Blackfin the first year (2yrs ago) and the rooms SUCKED.

WE have rooms in Key West ..but no one seemed to know about the races when I mentioned them...They just said occupancy had been high on weekends for the past 4 months. They are surprised about the number of tourist since it is swing or turnover season.
Can't wait to get there and see everyone!!

But I never see much of the inside of the room anyway.

Will be there all weekend. Hope it's as much fun as it was last year.

didn't they level the Buccaneer a few months ago or is the new one built already?

The Buccaneer has been leveled. The new building is under construction. Last time I was there (bout 2 weeks ago) they were prepping the land.

The boat is owned and throttled by Gregg Reichman. The cockpit in this thing is a drivers dream. We were able to do a little testing just before the St. Cloud race before I had to come back to Toto land. We may be at somewhat of a disadvantage early in the season till we get more test and dial in time. I think this boat is one of the first, if not the only Super V in APBA with #6 drives, so we'll be hoping for big water races at first . So far, rough or calm It handles like a dream.

Sounds good , we will make a vacation out of it anyway, just hoping for the same turnout as last year.
