Glassdave. This is the look that Tammy wants.Make the wife happy and I am happy. We are looking for a fairly inexpensive boat to work on.More importantly my stepson is very talented as an airbrush and auto painter.Give him a turd and he will turn it to sunshine.

JnT 04-29-2004 08:32 PM

Tammy is spoiled on the "thunder" of big horsepower. She thinks outboards belong on fish boats.I like outboards.Guess who will get their way?Jim

Velocity

glassdave 04-29-2004 10:48 PM

cool, you are looking at some great boats. one of my all time favorites is the 24 pantera and the 24 excal. these boats are great ruff water performers. there is a 24 excal for sale about a block from me right now. might hafta stop in and have a looksee :D. also Just Once on the board has a nice one for sale too. good luck with the search, you will be very happy with any of these.

The Magnum 24 and the 27 would probably be the two most splashed boats of all time. These two boats were either splashed or the design stretched to make other hull's, but many boats are derived from these two.

25 Sunsation Agressor

RollWithIt 04-30-2004 10:15 AM

You can also look at the 24 Baja Outlaw. Granted, its not a Pantera, but your not paying the same price as a Pantera also. The baja is a great bang for the buck boat and can handle the ruff with its deep V. Just another option.

JnT 04-30-2004 10:27 AM

Ok so far I have these boats that have similar looks as the Pantera in the first post.
Pantera
Magnum
Excaliber
Banana
Superboat
P&D
Jaws
Corsa
Activator
Python
Martini
Sunsation
Twister
Carerra
Signature
Apache
Webbcraft
Seahawk
Checkmate
Velocity is different and Baja would be an option.
Any more you all can think of?

I think any of these boats would work nicely, but as far as fitting into the P&D, Pantera superboat, etc look your going for in the 21-24 range. As far as I know only a few are a little different as listed above

What is this list about. You have 7 and 8 ft beam boats in the same list.

BRET 04-30-2004 12:42 PM

How about Warlock 23' V hull?

JnT 04-30-2004 07:31 PM

Caincando1, Trying to put together a list of all the 21-24 ft. boats that have similar lines as the Pantera in post 1. I believe Fever Mike earlier referred to it as the Miami style. I ran across a Seahawk 24 footer last year that had never been rigged.Price was 3.000 dollars.Cool boat but was sold before I could get to it.

JnT 04-30-2004 09:30 PM

Thanks Fever Mike.We are looking for a project mainly to see what my stepson can do with his painting talent. He has done bikes, trucks, cars etc.A few times he has done jobs just designing and masking off graphics on cars.He has not done any boats yet. This boat would be the test subject and we love the classic lines of the Panteras etc.Maybe one day he will be doing custom graphics for a major company.I'm doing my best to encourage him.Jim

Sandisk 04-30-2004 09:37 PM

What was the name of the boat company in Algonac Michigan that made a similar looking boat in the 70's? It may have been around or bought out by Sunsation years back, memory is shot sorry

Sandisk 04-30-2004 09:42 PM

I drove a 24' Pantera with a 330HP 454 with the pre-Bravo drive that looked like an Alpha but "beefed" up.

My only thoughts are why can't we have a "way back machine"??

To go back in time for a moment where the boats is zipping flawlessly through and on top of waves, the engine sounded like Pepe' and Jo singing the National Anthem. Wait. It can be done, just buy one!

My suggestion is the boat can easily take 500HP

By a 496 HO single and do the heads thing!

Well you get my drift. The 24' Pantera rules!

JnT 04-30-2004 10:38 PM

Has anyone ever griped about a Pantera? If so I haven't seen it! Gotta love em!

R Addiction 05-01-2004 07:35 AM

Active Thunder 25ft Tantrum......awesome rough water boat for the size!!;)

ChristianGott 05-01-2004 08:11 AM

Condor out of Florida, 24x7, like a superboat, deck is more rounded, I'll post a pic for you soon.

Banana Boat

From what I know, the Banana Boat was made for racing more than for pleasure, thus the no frills.

I don't even have a drink holder yet.

Banana Boat has an 8 foot beam as opposed the the 7 on most of the others.

Biggest difference is that the deck of a Banana looks like an early 35 cigarette flat deck.

The deck does not even have the slightest bump or curve to it.

6" walk around deck on either side instead of the cockpit going all the way to the gunnel.

V shaped fairing.

No pad on the bottom so it slices really nice through the rough.

Here is a pic...

Python started out in Michigan in the 70's and then moved to Buford GA in the early to mid eighties. Is this the company you are referring to?
