Russ,
I would take the city commissioner's responce at face value. Make sure you still take your army to the meeting to show how serious you are so that they don't sneek it by unnoticed at a meeting were it's not on the agenda, but is brought to the floor by someone in attendance, say a developer seeking permits.

Yes, I gave her the direct website. Don't know how well this will come up but this is a copy of the email I sent all the city commissioners.

Great work, it is nice to see a local government that actually responds to its citizens. Here in Houston? FORGET IT!
I visited Sarasota a while back and loved it. As soon as I get a chance I'm going to visit again for a personal career exploratory week I'm sure Sarasota has enough room for me.

Having worked with lying currupt politicians personally, I wouldnt believe anything they say even to my face. My best recommendation is to hound them at all the council meetings. But, still have a backup plan ready if they decide to shut it down behind closed doors or during a closed session. My thoughts are to get about a thousand willing people to tow their boats down there and block up the park and surrounding streets with thier vehicles. By the time they get done dealing with the ensuing traffic jamb headache, they will be sorry that they shut the ramp down.
Just a little peacefull civil dissobedience.

Its amazing how fast politicians can double talk when confronted by angry "voters". Just think how angry they would be when downtown Sarasota is in gridlock by trucks with boats on trailers.

Some politicians beep like large trucks because they back pedel so often. You do need to stay in their face but just the fact they wrote back to Russ is a surprise to me. In this case I would tend to believe them more than I would a politician here in Houston. You wouldn't believe the gridlock here. Unless you want a new stadium built for your local soccer team, you would never get anything done.
