I know it, just to cheap to go get one. It's one of those things not worth the $ until you need it to save your life:D

My father in law has one on his sail boat I will grab it before I go.

Downtown42 05-03-2004 10:57 PM

I should bark...I don't have one either

de sabal harbor(not sure of spelling)

is also great place to stay if you can get in

it is close to most things

yea you can get downtown and stop at Dicks last resort to eat but it will cost you $20 an hour to park your boat there to eat

Chicago is so cool to see by water at night

to bad it is just not real boater friendly

I have made the Chicago trip often by boat

call me if you have any questions

I think you have the number

There are a few, you have to go up-river for the better ones. The river has a reputation of having various things floating in it at any given moment, but the city is working on that as they just dedicated a boat recently for 'sweep cleaning' on a regular basis.

That said, what Marc said is fairly correct, its not real boater friendly. For restaurants, you have to go up-river for a meal / beverages once you have been there/done that at 'Dicks Last Resort' and even then there arent that many up river. Still a good time though, as the river snakes through downtown providing great city views.

There is a party cove / play pen, with great close-up views of the city.

wheres party cove and play pen?

Milw has a few places to back in with outdoor seating. Nothing spectacular but it works. It's not S. Miami.
Chit in river also. 442 Olds rear end with tires and rims washed up one storm.

I would like to cruise up the river as I never have. That's fine, instead of 20./hr to park I'll bring almost 2 cases of Miller Lite and my CD's

1) Just south of Navy Pier, and north of the Adler Planatarium. Right at Oak Street Beach basically.

2) lol what ratio was it ?? I need a spare posi rear end :D

3) Let me know when you come down if its not going to be during a COPS run

The PLAYPEN is actually NORTH of Navy Pier, just north of Olive Park and the water filtration plant. The breakwater starts east of the entrance to Monroe Harbor and extends north past Oak Street, where it curves around and heads east almost to the shore. Therein lies the playpen.
There is a party cove way up north by Wilmette Harbor, but its not worth the trip.
The river, by the way is about an hour and a half of no wake zone before you get anywhere and then there's nowhere to go. The next 6 hours are pretty boring, too.
I also have a slip in Burnham harbor, which is also cool.
15 minutes south and you're at the gambling boat in Hammond. You can actually use either spot.
The correct spelling, by the way is "DuSable"

RJ1340 05-04-2004 10:52 AM

Oh, yeah. Burnham's probably more convenient for you to get back and forth from Downtown and your hotel. Sorry about the dogs, but they're very bonded to their "mommy".

Downtown42 05-04-2004 11:02 AM

got all info tnks..what dogs dalmations?

sgrady 05-04-2004 11:11 AM

Hammond is not bad, it is a good 30 minutes though or more depending on traffic, hop the sky way to the State line. If the Cops members are there the Yacht Club is nice and the gambling boat is right there.

You can go down to some of the beaches past the Gary steel mills  . There is one Beach "Wells Street beach" that allows boaters to park on the beach. Other areas as well.

T Dock in Hammond is full of OSO and COPS guys, great time if you want to hang out with some of the crowd.
