You can beat Dick Last Resort AND your cases of beer with a right turn at Goose Island to the North Branch of the river (it looks like a "T" intersection when you are coming from the locks). Follow it up about another 15 min (everythings No Wake...with the exception of the stupid ferrys)...if you are bored, you can count condoms floating around (no joke). Eventually you'll get to a bar on your left bank with docks that look like they may fall in at any second...the place is called "Slow Down...Life's too Short" and it absolutely rules. It's worth the trip...I keep my boat in Hammond and usually take the journey on Friday afternoon's for lunch if you wanna hook up.

hey mike let me know if everyone is going i could bring a whole gang of folks and make it a party. and yeah it depends what you want to do Hammond is a great place to party but i think everyone who boats near Chicago has been to life's too short. the only real good bar on the river. dick's is way overrated... bob z

Send out a reminder closer to the date..I usually don't know what I'm doing until the last minute...but that sounds like a great plan.

Monroe Harbor?

I have a can at Monroe Harbor you can use all you want. The Harbor is across the street from Buckingham Fountain. The harbor has a water taxi to pick you up. I will only use it for Venician Night and thats about it. If no slips come through, you are welcome to use it.

How come you never see boats up in the river?

I see responses that you can get to Dick's and others but never see boats in town when in Chicago.
