I had one,
1974 Checkmate MX-15:D :D :D :D YES, it was FUN!!!!!!!!!!!! Difference is, I had it when I was 32:eek:   I was boatless, had sold the Jetboat, Sea ray, and pontoon to move to FL, and was bored, so I bought one for $500, restored it, drove it once, and sold it, the guy picked it up the day before I moved. |

so how fast was that little boat with the big motor??
i think it went about 48 or so, but hard to tell with no speedo or gps
My second boat was a brand new 1982 15' Checkmate with a 115 Merc. 55 MPH was tops if you could handle the kiting. Not much around topped that back then. It was a fun boat
I grew up around 6' to 8' 1 seater thin plywood hydros.Powered by custom built Wizard outboards. Not sure how fast but fast enough for me at the age 12-14. If my mother ever new my dad would let me drive. Never mind:hothead:
